Over the last few years as camera phones have matured there has been a natural migration of technologies from the point-and-shoot to the phone. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is already shaping up to one of the most impressive Android imaging devices and now the guys over at the SE Product Blog have shown off a new feature, face recognition.
The way it works is that you can tag photos with people’s names. Then when you are set to take a new picture, it will recognise them and tag them accordingly. Then when flicking through photos in the Mediascape application, you are able to see all pictures of that particular person, much like in Picasa.
Rikard Skogberg from the SE Product Blog says that it’s not 100 percent perfect. If it doesn’t recognize the subject it will come up with an “Unknown” tag and from there you can easily use the right name. All in all it sounds very impressive, you can see this tech in action for yourself after the break.
