Official Xperia X10 Android 2.1 promo video released

Official Xperia X10 Android 2.1 promo video releasedWe’ve already seen a number of videos showing us what to expect from the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 update. Well as a sign that we must be coming close to release, SE support have released a fancy looking promo video on the benefits of updating to Android 2.1.

It looks like video was released ahead of schedule as it talks of getting the update now, when it clearly hasn’t been released. Anyway you can check out the video below.

  4. I think it looks awesome. One of the big unheralded improvements for me is the extra row on each screen which is a big plus on such a big screen. Has anyone heard or seen any improvements to mediascape?

  12. I don’t understand why some users here are so FRUSTRATED, if u don’t like SE DON’T BUY IT. For me the X10 is one awesome mobile phone and i buy it since the first day when SE launch it in my country, like a lot of users i have several months waiting THIS UPDATE BUT i prefer 1000x times wait the SE customization of the Eclair os than the standard OS of andriod like in Nexus, Motorola or HTC whatever.

    I want java, 16m screen and multi-touch like all but anyway SE make a great job with the OS, have a very nice design.

I agree with Raiden.. is it so life or death important to have Angry Birds and active backgrounds.. just wait a day or two.. its not like you have a bricked phone.. you’ll do everyone a favor actually if you bought one of those ugly plastics from HTC.. reminder, we had an 8megapixel camera before everyone else, and I seem to have better reception then most of my friends runnig HTCs and iPhones, so I really don’t understand you guys..

  28. re X10 mini.. as far as I know there is no confirmation. We don’t even have a confirmation that normal x10 will be updated.

    So we just need to wait and see i’m afraid. I presume (great presumption), X10 mini will definitely get the update, either immediately or some days after.

  60. until today SE still not commit on release date, even the fxxking UK SE changed from 25th to unknown.
    Most probably they will not issue the update by month end as:
    – they already claimed that some places will get later but never say where, so you don’t know it actually release or not
    – they will not release soon but get some guy like fact is fact to said “OMG, i got my 2.1 update already, brabrabra” Just imagine they just get two firmware approve in 25-26 Oct, which mean they still amend something. I believe there are some more revision, remember they still have 70 unsettle code?

    to reply someone saying if you hate SE, don’t buy X10. come on, we buy X10 (at least myself) not because SE, but the design, and so-called flag”shit” model that will top spec. The disappointment is on Ver. 1.6 and they keep delay it, empty promises
    and to another guy, angry bird is indeed very important as it was designed to work in newer android built, at least 2.X. Which mean, more apps will design on new platform, and X10 cannot run it. The moment X10 update to 2.1, new games will say support 2.2 and above.
    If SE really ready with 2.1, don’t show in this crap video, but at least get a real video with some idiot from SE to demo it.

    Also, frikkie and silverfox, SE will be releasing 2.1 on the X10 Mini and Mini Pro. In fact the Sony Ericsson website says the Mini now has 2.1 – http://se-xperia.com/xperia-x10-mini-now-with-android-2-1/ and i checked, the photo isnt photoshopped either.

    Update to 2.2 or 2.3 is not big deal for me as the big thing in 2.2 is apps2 SD. Even SE upgrade to 2.2, i still doubt that they will include the native support of apps2SD. multi-touch and 16Mil color is native support by 2.1 but SE exclude it.

    Just don’t let all the negativity get you, try to be optimistic. You will be having a great looking phone with a 8mp camera + HD recording ( auto focus ) + a very good OS 2.1 which has much more apps and games than 1.6

    So overall you will have an excellent phone that a lot of people will dream about 🙂

    1b. Who the hell wants to buy a used phone with old, crappy firmware + S-E’s bloatware?

    I hate having to go through so much options to access the dialpad while in a call, hated that the screen stayed on while a call and that I couldn’t turn it off to save battery, hated having to check 2 different places for my e-mails.

    This update, while having been extremely long shows a lot of polishing from SE, I can’t wait. 🙂

    Many people are tied into contracts so find themselves stuck with the X10. Not everyone can afford to purchase the phone and choose a contract offer which suits 80% of phone users in the UK.
    Phone companys were pushing the X10 at people on the basis that the 2.1 upgrade was being released and that the phone had allready multitouch and 16m colours….quite a few people here in the UK witnessed this.

    So many requests for fixes to known bugs on the phone were never met by S.E as they chose to ignore its fanbase.

    Based on those facts! People have the right to vent frustration and emotions in a place that S.E may pop in for a nosey and read. It also sends a signal across the entire market that we the people that use and pay for this hardware are not about to bend over and be fucked in the ass by the giant co-ordination dicks. This then keeps them on there toes and gives them the motivation to stay on top of updates and bug fixes…cause and effect!

    United we stand together we make them fall.

    New improved bluetooth is important cos handsfree profile sucks in this android 1.6 and to drive a car or speak in the phone without handsfree is a risk. It works bad and people often say i fall out and they can not hear me. Even with the handsfree that is posted on SE hompage as a match to X10 mini pro. So i dont use my X10 for now. So i have been using my brothers Samsung Galaxy I9000 and that have now been updated to android 2.2 and what a good phone. Sony will never be able to ever match that one. So even if it will be a better phone with android 2.1 it is still way behind in development. And to be honest this is the future not the past we are focusing on SE remember. This dont make us believe in you as a company.

    Don’t buy anything SE especially the X8, get an HTC instead. As for everybody thinking that 2.1 is god send. It doesn’t really seem to be. It’s more like SE are fixing things that should have been there in the first place. Every new HTC, Motorola, Samsung etc has already done the same things a long time before SE did. Like the 5 homescreens and the better keyboard. Also I am very happy that the power button doesn’t hang up a call anymore, that was so retarded in the first place! So there is nothing new here, nothing that hasn’t already been done before, we are just catching up with what was the standard months ago. Also the point posted twice about how other MFGs had problems with froyo and 2.1 implementation are so retarded. How about SE’s own try on 1.6, it has had nothing but problems, so I don’t see any point to that argument. Still no MT, even if it IS capable of it. SE did LIE to all our faces don’t forget, even the fanboys cannot ignore that fact, even though they try too. I am still waiting for a auto flash on the camera, my very old W810i had an auto flash, why can’t the X10? There is nothing new in this update that hasn’t been done already and shouldn’t have been done months ago.

    2.1 is not even really a new O.S. It has the same kernel as 1.6. It’s no more than a minor improvement. Froyo is the new benchmark for android upon which gingerbread will bring some improvements mainly with the U.I and possibly divx support.

  199. I’ve been reading comments and reactions abot the X10 on this site since i got the phone ( Apr 15th, ’10).I’m just amused by most of the complains. Here are a few observations:
    first of all Zodiac, stfu! after reading your “comments” here for last few months, I”m glad you bought the X10. A person so unhappy and so bitter, and yet with so much sense of false entitlement totally deserves the pain X10 brought on you. People like you have nothing else to do but to focus on the negativity and all you do is bring everyone else down. Take your pain to a shrink. better yet: get a life, get a gf and get laid. This is not a Tea Party rally. You’ve been crying to get 2.1. Now that we’re getting it you’re still whining and i assume pretty soon you’ll be crying for the 2.2 update and if we get that you’ll still find something else to cry about. grow up dude.

    To remind everyone here, this is SE’s FIRST Android phone. All of SE’s competitors: HTC, Motorola, Samsung had a headstart on SE in the android game and all of their initial offerings suffered major bugs, crashes and glitches etc. SE delivered a fantastic product for their first effort. its remarkable that even though i tweak my X10 everyday in some way, including 3rd party apps, it is still very stable and works like a charm. therefore, i’m ok with the 2.1 delays bc to me that means SE will deliver a stable upgrade, when they do. Give credit where its due and SE deserves credit for not rushing the phone just to make a quick buck from the hype.

    I understand that android is hatching versions like a bunny and we all feel like we’re entitled to the latest and greatest. however to be fair, it has been Google’s lack of planning that every few months they anounce a new upgrade. everyone knows that isn’t sustainable and eventually they’ll have to go to something similar to Apple’s release format. For a company like SE, already trying to cut its losses, its a huge burden to not only simultaneously try to keep its current products updated but also plan, manufacture and deliver new products as well. Knowing SE’s financial struggles for past couple of years, its no surprise that X10 was delayed when it was released, and the updates are getting delayed as well. However, as i said earlier, to SE’s huge credit, they did manage to deliver a top notch product even while trying to keep costs down. From the recent reports, their strategy is paying off and they’ve started to claw back to financial stability. If the rumors of the new PSP phone running Gingerbread are true, SE will deliver a knockout punch and all you whiners and haters predicting demise of SE just bc it didn’t make u feel special will be getting in line to get on the bandwagon again.

    anyone who researched the phone properly knew it didn’t have MT. there was a possibility/rumour that it may get it but it was never a guarantee. i bought the phone knowing it didn’t have MT and it wasn’t an issue for me and still isn’t. its crazy that 6 months down the road people are still pissed about not having MT. You should’ve bought the Desire or Milestone if it was that important for you. and don’t go on about how SE promised you MT bc they didn’t. it was just RUMORS!

    I get it that X10 doesn’t have 2.1 or 2.2, but frankly it doesn’t affect my day to day usage. the only time i’m reminded of this fact and feel stressed about it is when i go to the X10 forums. lol. here’s why not having 2.1 hasn’t bothered me:

    Phone is stable and dependable, call volume is fine on my unit, GPS is superfast, screen is responsive, camera works very well including video. For enhancements i have ADW Launcher for Home, Rock player for DivX, Mort/Mixzing for audio, Photoshop/PicSay for pic editing, SWYPE for typing, all my apps from the market work fine and there have been more than i will ever need for 1.6. I don’t have any freezing or rebooting issues, screen is huge and looks good ( not Galaxy S good but still excellent), and the phone itself has a look and personality that everyone asks about it even now after 6 months of its release. the only other phone i considered instead of X10 was HTC Desire and Desire looked bland and cheap, with lower quality camera, less RAM and only 8 gb sd card. even with 2.1 or 2.2 Desire already looks dated whereas my X10 looks contemporary and brand new. hey, i think the aesthetics are almost as important as the technical specs!

    so basically, as far as i am concerned, the phone as is, is still a very good phone. Once its gets 2.1, it’ll be even more responsive, have better memory and battery management, better aesthetics, better dialer, better timescape/mediascape (even if hardly anyone uses them), better launcher, more widgets and games and over all a better user experience. its a Win Win situation.

  206. I found it!!! you have to update through pc companion. It tells you that there is a update then you have to go through the process of holding back but you have to do that before you plug in the usb and you will know once you have the solid green light.

  240. This has become unacceptable, Sony Ericsson. Do what your competition is doing, stop trying to do your own thing. Your customers will not accept your neglect. For the same price as your X10 is up against devices like the samsung galaxy s, which not only has better software, but better hardware as well. You’re losing traction in the market, and you’re going to have a hard time pushing your Xperia PSP phone after all this bad press. Essentially you’re combining a failed portable console, and a failed handset. Just stop dicking around.

    This is the same thing that the PS3 went through with firmware. It only took those fools 2 years to realease in game xmb.

These news posted today are actually the original news from late september which is old news. So relax people. No delays posted since september. PR suggest a release very soon. Does anyone have to say anything more? YOur Iphone may have the best screen resolution, your Moto may have the latest software, you Nokia … (I’m sorry guys I have nothing that boosts a Nokia). Ultimately love it or hate it… The Xperia X10 has its own blog where the other users come and post their comments.

    It will be interesting to see if the new version helps with any of the glitches from the past like battery life etc…

    when i’m listening music by earphones,sound is to quite unless i press connector!
    But after releasing him it again becoming obscured!
