2.1 Problems & Complaints

I can't use the power button to end calls anymore.
This really sucks since many times the screen of the xperia lags and I end up waiting ages to get the damn call ended.
Even more, if someone's phone is turned off, I get a message like "beinge redirected to the voicemail and will be chargable after the beep" and if I can't get the damn phone turned off before that beep I pay for the call!!!

this really sucks, is there no way to use the power button to end calls like it was before?

On my mini pro i experience some unstable os behaviour. I had live wallpaper going crazy, had to switch of phone to resolve it. Also after a restart , and the se splash screen, the main menu experiences some lagging when browsing. The lag stops automaticly after 15 secs. 2.1 is nice but i had hoped it too bit a more stable.

Even without live wallpaper running, I have had numerous lock ups today. I have had screen go black in call and was unable to do anything. 4x now today, I have had sorry message pop up prompting me to force close home screen. These lock ups and home force closes never happened on 1.6, so I am starting to get annoyed. I will do repair update this weekend if it keeps happening. At least I know it is not live wallpapers causing problems. I hate to do repair because I have to spend a lot of time reinstalling apps and reassigning all my custom ringtones etc.. I have already done all that twice in the last 10 days
I wonder what would happen if I format my sd card?

Did the software repair, reinstalled the whole lot and it hasn't fixed the problem. I make a call and the screen goes black, no buttons work, call cannot be ended and screen does not appear, phone is useless with this 2.1 update

@ moistvelvet - It can't be the update, not everybody has these issues myself included! I'm not saying the update is perfect by a long shot but IMO this is either, a user issue, a hardware issue or a fault whilst installing the software!

@ NoXiouS - What launcher are you using?
This issue could be app based, apps are not perfect hence regular updates from well supported devs.
Try installing some apps, use the phone to determine what is running at the time and could be causing this.

No launcher. Most all my apps are same as before update. This will be day 2 of no live wallpapers. There are only a few apps I use that I didn't before. NHL widget, Horoscope/Tarot and Internal Mem Widget. I will try uninstalling one by one to troubleshoot today. Thanks Jayj.

:idea: Hey all:
I have noticed many problems/complaints about 2.1 since people updating.
I figured I would start a post specifically for just that so they can be in one place sort of.
Feel free to post your own problems and or complaints regarding 2.1 update.

My problems & complaints:
Battery dies way faster now than ever before. (Possibly caused by live wallpapers?)
Phone running slower in general than it did before. Maybe my Snapdragon processor snapped?
Browser no longer has Exit key from menu. I have to use task killer to exit browser!
Skyfire and Dolphin browsers both have exit feature I think; so I will use them now.
Maybe Rogers and/or other sp's wanted it that way to make extra $$ from browser activity?
The default keyboard is a bit better than in 1.6 and corrections are easier, but still a pain.
Can't find swype for free anywhere yet, but still looking.

That's it for now, I've only had 2.1 for 48 hours. I'm sure more stuff will pop up.

all of this goes the same for me, Its way more laggy than before, I miss the exit button and my battery went from 48 hours back to max 20. Wich kinda sucks ofcourse.
Overall i do think the 2.1 update is great accept for these few points.

I just did the update this past weekend and my phone was worked like a charm, only found it laggy upon the first load up. i use toggle data, it's a widget that disables all data transmissions when activated and it has increased the lifespan of my battery by a ridiculous amount. i just turn it on when i need data, or just use wifi if i'm at home. this also minimizes the amount of activity in the background without all the updates so my phone runs much more smoothly than it did originally. i really like the new update, however i have a couple problems. when i have the data turned off, i receive mms msgs but not the pic, prior to updating i could download the pic no problem after i enable the data, but now i can't, so i have to get the sender to resend the pic. the other is recording in hd, after so many seconds it goes all snowy and freezes up, displaying "unknown error" and i lose all the footage i just shot. it's happened 2 out of 2 times. is anybody else experiencing this with their video camera?

just fixed my own problem... i closed the camera application from my task manager and opened it back up again and have shot a few vids in hd about 2 minutes in length each with no problems.

hi all i have updated to 2.1 and it took some getting used to but i'm getting there, anyway my keyboard when texting has now gone into a sort of japanese mode (english letters but japanese symbols) i don't know how to change this so went to the user guide which has also disappeared although the shortcut to user guide is still there... has anyone else had this problem? or can anyone help...

Settings, language and keyboard, input method, default or android.
I believe you may also be able to long press inside any text input box and select input method there.

cheers for that, keyboard now sorted, but does anyone know where my user guide would of gone during the upgrade?? i did backup/restore before upgrade then restored after but it has just gone although the user guide tab is still in the menu, when pressed it says " cannot find on memory card the card has been removed or files deleted.."
The card has not been removed so the files must of been deleted in the upgrade, can anyone tell me how to get them back or re install them??

I don't actually know what to say about that one. Maybe try pc companion. I remember a tile on pc screen for manual. Maybe it can re-install from there. You van always google ot too.

hmm.. i think i have that problem as well. but i'm not sure if i accidentally deleted the rubbish from my sd card (needed space)

but in 2.1 didn't work. then again, i don't use the manual.. so... i didn't really care whether i could access it or not
if you need help, google it! it's either on SE's site, or all over forums
