android update ???

hello!

i thought id give sony ericsson another try after having a bad experiance with the c905... loving the x10...so far!

does any know when there android 2.1 (or newer) update is available on the x10?

There's not even an inkling of when this might appear right now, not hearing any rumours at all. SE have modded Android 1.6 in various ways including Bluetooth support, so it's not too much of a big deal. However, I agree it'd be good to know.

My personal feeling is that we won't see it until H2 2010.

That's doesn't make any sense. The phone is really expensive specially if we look that there is no 2.1 out of the box, não multi-touch capabilities, poor calling sound, no 16 million colors, no multiple accounts, no flash support.

Right now we have the HTC Legend, HTC Desire, HTC Hero and the Google Nexus One with 2.1 and all the other points specified. They cost almost the same. Again, It doesn't make any sense. THe phone was announced last October and it's still beeing released across Europe. Why didn't work on the 2.1 from the ground? I really can't understand... It's a shame and the 2.1 Rom should not be released in the H2 because it would be a poor marketing move. The phone is already almost obsulite... that's stupid.

Again, i love the phone but the SE marketing errors are so idiot... OMG!

when i ordered the phone from 02 they guy said on the phone that SE are planning an update but he didnt know when.

i agree though, i dont know why they didnt just release the phone with 2.1 ... i hope they sort it out soon though. i was disoppointed it didnt have flash. if they sorted these little things out then its definatly contender for phone of the year!

next job for me is learning how to replace the keypad!!

I've downloaded the 2.1 flash upgrade from SE's site. Not got the X10 yet, Vodafone delaying online delivery.

Not trying to be controversial or rude, but if you buy the phone, do so with what it can do now, not what it may or may not do in the future. A software update may still not give you what you want as the equipment may not be suitable.

Have just been on to SE by phone in UK regarding this:
- when I connect my X10 to my laptop via USB up comes SE PC Companion
- it tells me there is an update available - software
- it alerts me to data that will be overwirtten and hence lost: messages, games, apps, settings
- it tells me to back these up

I can't find how to do this. OK, I am noty too bright, so I phoned SE.

They could not tell me how to backup settings either. They also had no idea about any update, telling me that a new phone should not have or need an update.

Can any of you guys out there shed any light on what this update is, and how I can back up my settings and apps??

This may become a common question. I have asked SE to email me with answers - we'll see!

Hi, FTC. I didn't regard this post as rude or controversial. You make a valid point and one we should all bear in mind when going for a phone. We should also be able to post our opinions without fear of someone else ridiculing us for our views. Not that this has happened on this new Forum and long may it last.
