well o2 still won't release latest official update which grants dual touch and doenst look like they will any time soon. Im still under warranty tho and rooting will void that but will the method of flashing the drivers to the current firmware void it which doesnt require root. im already thinking of flashing to genric when gingerbread is released if o2 won't get but i wanna keep warranty as long as possible. any thoughts
Yes it will, the 2.1 firmware you are running is O2 branded and flashing a generic firmware is tantamount to debranding which is considered by most providers equally as bad as rooting. You may not physically see the branding but if it was bought direct from O2 or most high street phone shops it'll be branded, Carphone Warephone is the only UK exception to this rule as they sell generic kits. Basically it's a risk you could or could not get away with, if your phone needs any servicing and O2 realize your phone is debranded they may ask questions, they may ignore it or they may cancel your warranty on the basis of user interference.
Sorry I misunderstood, can't say for sure then. If O2 wanted to be fussy and check your phone then yes it still could void your warranty but I highly doubt they would.
done works great on everything except maps but i think thats linked to firmware somehow been using arc launcher and the pinch widgets thingy works nicely my contracts up in august so will haggle a arc maybe a tegra 2 device out of o2 but in mean time i'll enjoy the extra touches dual touch brings.
