Newbie needs help

I know this has been asked before but i cant seem to find the topic,

Currently i am running 2.1 un rooted just the standard version, without multitouch.

I would liek to update my phone to the latest wersion 2.2 by whatever means possible, i have seen several site describing how to do it if i am runnign beta 3 but so far have been unale to find out how to do it from a standard non rooted phone.

Hope someone can advise with a straight forward walk through on how to do it with supplied files.

As SE are not going to release 2.2 for the X10, the only wayu you will be able to do it is by rooting your phone.

The version of 2.2 that I'm using is FreeX10. But it can be a minefield mate, so my advice would be to read all the posts, including the ones by Jayj on this site, and absorb the info. Don't rush it otherwise you could end up with lost data.

Also, its best to have the attitude that you are content with losing everything on the phone - so make backups!!
