Unlocked but can't update

Postby Edmond78 » Fri Oct 14, 2011 6:20 am

Please advise... I unlocked my Xperia X10 with a code provided by AT&T (it's definitely unlocked) but when I try to update to Gingerbread, both the Update Service and PC Companion tell me that I already have the latest version (I currently have Android 2.1). In the Settings area on the phone, it says the model number is X10A. Shouldn't be X10i now that it has been unlocked? I'm confused...

Thank you guys!

I am sure unlocking only allows you to use any sim where as unbranding allows the update.

I read somewhere on this forum that debranding/flashing wasn't possible anymore after SE latest 2.1 update. What else can I do to debrand?

You can debrand by flashing a generic ROM with Flashtool, either SE Android 2.1 or better still SE Android 2.3 all of which are available on XDA Developers Forum.
