Ok so this is probably a dumb question, but how are you able to change the icons on the status bar at the top? are they from the custom themes?

NP mate. The data widget is 3G watchdog available from Android Market (Free) and if you are looking at the Internal & External things, "Internal Phone Storage Widget" & "SD Card Storage Widget" and they are also available in AM (Free).

That's the "Recent Calls" from SE (Available in the stock 2.1 firmware)

It's quite useful when you need to call couple of people frequently, that you no need to go to call logs always to retrieve their data.
