The second handset on my contract, (the missus' phone) has been due an upgrade for a couple of weeks now, have just ordered an arc for her. Actually really looking forward to having a play with it now!

Sorry but the GS2 gets my vote, monumental fail on SE's part their new handsets not being dualcore!

And then again, theres the huge update fail from SE.
Knowing se, arc wont be supported after 3 more months like the x10 did.

Haven't looked into the S2 much as the phone was for the missus and they wanted silly money for it on 2 yr contract. In defense of the arc, it is gorgeous, no lag what so ever, screen sharp as anything and a camera better than any other handset I have ever seen. If I could upgrade now, I'd happily order another arc. The camera on it can stand its ground against a digital camera easily. Even where other phones fail in poor light or when using the zoom, pictures are coming our exceptionally crisp.
Also, now I have sampled it, I cannot wait for gingerbread.

Well thats the point. Waiting for 2.3. I do get the part that its beautiful. No argue there!
Must say, if they come out good with the 2.3 update i do consider a se again. But im a real gadget freak so i cant get passed a dual core. Im no samsung fan so that wont be it.
And yeah ur just right about the arc, its a really good phone.

I agree about the Arc being beautiful but I just can't except a new phone that isn't dualcore, they're so impressive and with my GF rocking an amazing HTC Sensation which takes the most amazing pictures I have ever seen on a phone I just couldn't cope with a single core phone.
I also agree, I too am not a Samsung fan. Infact I hate the look of Sammy phones, it annoys me when ppl ask if my X10 is one if those iphones! Grrr I think having a Sammy will be worse but the spec is second to none, 32gb internal memory. Wow, dribble, dribble.....
I love the build of my X10 but my faith in SE has been rocked and with the X10's GB update still not available SE has done nothing to restore my faith.
Unless something appears that out specs the SG2 it will be my new phone come my upgrade in October.

gents,

i have a rooted x10 with whatever generic garbage orange has on it but am thinking i dont need a duel core phone? i do need a new phone though, would the difference on speed between the the two phones(arc-s2) make that big a deal. i use it for some apps, internet and some photos/videos. i do use my phone alot though. am still swinging towards the arc.

i jsut dont want to get 6 months down the line and see the s2 get the updates and all the praise and want to change my phone.

to be honest, you'd run that risk with any phone, the grass is always greener.....
My X10 is on Orange, rooted and flashed to the SE Generic 2.1 fw that is on the flashttol thread at xda.
I can't actually upgrade my X10 until May 2012, so I will probably have to wait a couple of months after that for next years phones to hit the shelves.
Wondering now what will come next from SE if they continue to use the BRAVIA tech in the screens with the Exmor-R camera... but then, that's just passing thoughts coz it feels like I have a lifetime to wait for my upgrade!
