Hey all:
I have noticed many problems/complaints about 2.1 since people updating.
I figured I would start a post specifically for just that so they can be in one place sort of.
Feel free to post your own problems and or complaints regarding 2.1 update.

My problems & complaints:
Battery dies way faster now than ever before. (Possibly caused by live wallpapers?)
Phone running slower in general than it did before. Maybe my Snapdragon processor snapped?
Browser no longer has Exit key from menu. I have to use task killer to exit browser!
Skyfire and Dolphin browsers both have exit feature I think; so I will use them now.
Maybe Rogers and/or other sp's wanted it that way to make extra $$ from browser activity?
The default keyboard is a bit better than in 1.6 and corrections are easier, but still a pain.
Can't find swype for free anywhere yet, but still looking.

That's it for now, I've only had 2.1 for 48 hours. I'm sure more stuff will pop up.

Did they even try to make the phone better? I have the X10 mini, ive had it for only a few weeks and i just updated it after having some truble as i could not send texts. I figured that I didn't have the SMS centre number but before contacting my provider I updated it to 2.1, I then find that the new update has removed the option to add an SMS centre number... so i was going to go for a factory reset to revert back to 1.6, but wait, you can't do that anymore either... hmm, so with this many faults i figured it had to be the phone and that i was the only one with this, i then sent it in to repair, got it back in exactly the same condition.... wow... I really need sony ericsson to fix this so caled update, i think it's more of a downgrade to be honest...

and just on a side note, what is up with the look of the "lock screen"? the cirles look like they were made in windows paint! AAAAH~

After 2.1 update screen goes black whenever I make a call, stays black after I've finished, unable to use any buttons/power off etc and get back to the main screen, to do that I have to remove the battery and reboot.

2.1 update has made my X10 useless as a phone

whoa that sounds like a major issue. try to do a firmware repair. if it doesn't work, bring it down for servicing

OK so hear these complaints but some aren't really relevant.
@ =NoXious= My battery is about the same, still charge it once or twice a day depending on use. And yes the live wallpapers if being used do decrease the battery performance, well known fact I thought. Either don't use them or understand the ramifications of using them.
I don't use the default browser, I use xScope and it's not a Rogers decision to not include an exit button but an SE decision. The original browser when I first got my X10i R1FA014, there was no exit button until one of the fw updates. Why they decided not to include it again I have no idea but unless you open pages there will be no charges from your provider, your charged for uploading and downloading not displaying our time spent on a page. It's the data used to build the page that you are charged for but for peace of mind use Dolphin, xScope or another browser.
As for keyboard, again I don't use default I use Swype. Look on XDA for a working copy of the Swype apk our try the HTC IME keyboard also available on XDA.

@ nesse1313 Factory data reset is still available just it's moved, go settings, Privacy Settings and you'll find it but a factory reset will techie your phone back to 1.6 as you're flashed the new software into it and that has removed the older 1.6 software.

@moistvelvet How long you had the update, maybe give the phone some time to settle. If still having problems try a software repair, failing return to provider or were you bought it.

I don't have many issues with 2.1, I think the phone is better!

I don't personally worry about data usage because my plan is 6GB per month Today, I am not using live wallpapers and I have already noticed way better battery performance. I do miss how cool the live wallpaper looks. I will poke aroud on xda for swype later(Thanks Jayj). When I do run live wallpaper, I have lock ups and force closes to exit apps. I will choose more carefully before I run live wallpaper again. Overall, I really enjoy 2.1 vs. 1.6. Almost like a new phone. I do not want to root my phone until after warranty expires next year. Hopefully the lock ups settle down now that I'm not using live wallpaper.

you can always do a repair of the firmware to bring it back to non-root and official firmware again. no issues. they won't know it's been rooted. half of them are just tech people who do what they're told (like me, who merely follow guides lol)

and i tell you with 0.999 probability you won't find swype on xda. it's now classified to be warez if posted. find other sources

Thanks tookie. Where would I find swype then? I want to at least try it out.

My God what sort of phone have I bought all this sadness. As O2 UK are dragging their heels I can't comment alas though after hearing all the negatives I wait with trepidation

Whooooops, guess I should read the rules? I signed up for it weeks ago and still havent heard anything. My schedule is vey demanding today and some things are better done on a screen bigger than my X10

yes you should. and the beta opened in june, there was a closed refresh in sept.. so if it's 3 months apart, they would probably open it again in december.. hopefully.

still no automatic flash

by automatic, do you mean the flash turning on just before snapping then turning off again? if so, there are apps (like vignette) that can do this

I will try to answer your bt q. Phone should be in discoverable mode. Device connecting to should as well. Since you have already paired, it should be easy and not require further passcode. Usually default code 0000 works. I send and receive pictres, ringtones, events and contacts between devices all the time. I also use bt headsets without problems everyday. Good luck.
