XXXX PROMO ENDED XXXX
the promo offer for Omnius has ended and it is no more FREE
I'm not removing this thread because it may serve someone who is willing to use paid service which is almost $4 a day.

All credits for this tutorial goes to:

First check your region and brand by going into the Test Menu (from slide lock screen press: menu, back, back, menu, back, menu, menu, back) and going to Service info > Model info.[/quote]

1-
Goto http://www.omnius-server.com/ and register an account there. Now from download tab download Omnius. It’s totally free.

2-

3-

4-
Run SEUS , follow on screen instructions. When it asks to connect your mobile, do so by turning off and plugging in the cable while Back button is pressed.

Image
5-
After doing so SEMC drivers will be installed on your PC. That’s what we installed SEUS for. Now disconnect cable from your X10 but not from CPU as changing USB ports may lead to problems during debrand.

6-
Now extract Omnius file you downloaded in step 1.Run Omnius_se.exe. You will have the following screen.

Image
7-
In settings tab select server settings and enter your username and password you used to sign up at http://www.omnius-server.com/ and hit save changes.

Image
8-
Extract the file (Firmware) you downloaded to a place you can find it. There should be two zip files. DON'T unzip them.
Make sure you are connected to Internet.
Now select your phone (e.g. X10i) and select Flash tab.

9-
Under Application, select the larger zip file you extracted (R7A_R1FA016_FSP_X10i_CUST_UK_GENERIC_1235_7379_S1_SW_LIVE_AC12_0001_S1_PARTITION_WITH_SPARE.zip).
Under Customization, select the smaller file (R1FA016_APP_SW_RACHAEL_GENERIC_1227_4612_S1_SW_LIVE_AC12_0001_S1_PARTITION.zip).
Following screen will appear.

Image
10-
Follow the on screen instructions. Connect the phone in Flash mode (power off, hold Back while plugging in the USB cable). Flash will continue. It will take a while so don’t get upset. After successful flashing it will ask you to remove cable, remove and reinsert the battery.

Turn your phone on. This will also take some time. Congrats you have dabranded your X10.

if you have to debrand it does not matter which firmware you are currently at. after debrand whether you are at 016 just run SEUS and you will be at "026" version. cheers!

Link for generic 014
http://hotfile.com/dl/43225669/598add6/ ... K.zip.html

If you want to get the latest generic 026 for x10a, the only way i guess is to download the x10a one click root package. Just do step 1.

Thank you black_tiger

Your link is one of the 2 X10a listed, I tried the other one and is not unbranded, is this one unbranded you think? I actually installed the generic UK version of the X10i. It works fine and it even did an OTA update (still 1.6); I have an US AT&T X10. I just read that when the new 2.1 (or 2.2) comes out I cannot upgrade if I have an hardware that is X10a and software that is X10i. Do you think that is true?

Thank you very much

Yeh you cannot update officially, BUT you can use the Ominus method and then flash back to your original firmware and update over the air or through SEUS to 2.1

Yes, but the whole purpose is to have an unbranded firmware. I guess I just need to see if there is any link available for flashing to a X10a unbranded with this method. I tried the other methods found in this site but I couldn't do it.

Thanks.

I had found one unbranded X10a firmware in Omnius web-site. It seems like there are a lot of different firmawares there to download. It doesn't seem to be the same as the one you sent me the link to. The name of the one I flasehed is "X10a_CUST_GEL_NAM1_1234_4820.rar" it seems like CUST would mean custom to me but it was unbranded on the phone, I am just concerned that a custom FW (if that is what it means) would not upgrade in the future. Also that is a R1FA016, the one you gave me is R2BA026; what is the difference and what is that code reffered to?

You seem to know a lot about these things, I hope I am not abusing too much of your time. Thanks

did you checked which X10 (a/i) you have?
from slide lock screen press: (menu, back, back, menu, back, menu, menu, back) and going to Service info > Model info.

1)As far as future upgrade is concerned it will only be disabled by SEUS if you flash X10a with X10i firmware or vice versa.
2)And as I stated above R1FA016 is just to debrand your phone. After debrand update your X10 with SEUS and you will be at R2BA026. Or you may use R2BA026 to flash, in this case you wont need to update because you are already at latest firmware.

If you have anymore queries feel free to post here.

and below is the link for North America Generic firmware for X10a. Never tried it since I have X10i.

Thanks 07ee17

it says
Country: Generic LAM (b)
Brand: Customized

I don't think this FW will upgrade

One thing I have noticed is that the 2 files for flashing with Omnius must be zipped (or .rar) and most of these firmware come into a rar file but the 2 files inside are not rared or zipped and they don't flash (the link from this page are all like that, the x10i also was and upgraded OTA, not with SEUS).
