Themed APKs

Have searched the forum but not found anything to suit...
I'm looking for some skinned (themed) APKs for stock 2.1 ROM, can anyone link me to anything? Mostly looking for themed SemcPhone.apk, Phonebook.apk and AlarmClock.apk. I have metamorph so files for that will do, just that all my searches don't seem to come up with much! Thanks in advance...

I have installed a new framework-res.apk, Phonebook.apk and Conversations.apk without anything going wrong.

Personally, I don't go for any of that xRecovery stuff, sounds like the difficult way of doing it to me. I rooted using z4root app and I use Root Explorer to swap out my APKs. Beware though, it could go wrong if you don't set the file permissions properly, especially with the framework-res as not doing so will get you stuck in a boot loop.
But it's easily done through Root Explorer with just a couple of taps.

Dig around on google for changing APKs with Root Explorer, should find something. So long as you do all your research thoroughly and make sure you understand all the processes, you should be fine. If not, there's always SEUS to bail you out with a firmware repair!

I'd also add to that to make sure you are using a theme for the correct firmware you are running, there are themes for Android 1.6 with build numbers R2BA024/R2BA026, Android 2.1 update1 with build number 2.0.2.A.0.504 and then Android 2.1 update1 with build number 2.0.2.A.0.24 and are not compatible with each other.
Chewitt's Theme above for example is for Android 2.1 update1 build number 2.0.2.A.0.504 and should only be installed in a phone running that build number, to find your phones build number go menu> settings> about phone and scroll down for Android version and build number.
Personally I would advise against using a root file manager to install a theme untill you know what you are doing.

Try installing Chewitt's Dark10 Theme above as it comes with an installer, link below for help using the installer.

How to install a theme using chewitts installer

Personally I love xRecovery installer for themes as it is so easy to use, but most themes that use xRecovery are for the newer update firmware build 2.0.2.A.0.24 but there are some for the previous firmware build.

If you need anymore help or advice jusr ask, we're here to help.

Yeah I did have that boot animation until I installed the FreeX10 Froyo Custom ROM, I still have a back up via xRecovery though.
OK so here's the link below, if it's the same as the theme you already installed probably no point in installing it again. Before you do this though make a nandroid back up with xRecovery. Two versions fot you to choose from, v0.5 has Gingerbread battery icon but with percentage and v0.6 has a circular barter mod with percentage.

X.Gbread theme

Here's a link for the boot animation. Once you've downloaded make sure you rename it bootanimation.zip or it won't work.

X10 Boot Animations

I recommend using this for pushing the bootanimation.zip unless you know ADB? It's real easy to use, if you have any problems PM me. Download v0.5.1 and I recommend you back up the default boot animation before you push the Energy Star animation.

X10 Mod Tool

Hope this helps.
