JIT-Optimizer & CrapApp Removal

Postby trulsw » Wed Nov 24, 2010 5:44 am

Hi!

I've been struggeling a while to achieve what I wanted with my 2.1-loaded X10 Mini, & this is how I did it:

(to do these things U have to turn on USB-debugging (settings->applications->development))

1) Removing Timescape, Roadsync, PlayNow and all the other CrapApps that SE won't let us uninstall.
-- I downloaded 2 apps from Market: z4root & Titanium Backup, both free apps
-- First I rooted my phone with z4root, one click and reboot
-- Then I started Titanium and started to first back up the data from the SE-apps, then I uninstalled them one by one.
--- BE AWARE--- Don't remove the calender-bridge or other system-critical processes, just the apps. I don't use Google Talk so I uninstalled that, but then Market stopped working and I had to manually download and install the 3 apk's

2) Install the JIT-Optimizer to get some speedy performance.
-- I tried different ways, but it didn't work out. Then I got some files from XDA-developers that worked and my Quadrant-score went from 490 to 570 - that's about 16% and the phone feels alot faster. This is how I did it:

a) Unrooted my phone with z4root
b) Connected the phone to my PC running XP with .NET2.0 and started SuperOneClick.exe. Clicked Root, When that was done I clicked Shell Root
c) Launched JIT_for _mini.bat. The phone rebooted, it took almost 5 minutes to boot. --- taDa!!!!

---
My Phone:

Installed---------------------------------Removed

* Youlu---------------------------------- * Adress book & Dialer
* Jorte---------------------------------- * Calendar
* Handcent SMS----------------------- * SE SMS
* Meridian Audio Player-------------- * Music Player & Video
* Opera Mini-------------------------- * Web Browser
* K9 Mail ------------------------------ * E-Mail
* ADW Launcher---------------------- * Home

Good Luck!

personally, I recommend renaming the .apk files you don't want rather than deleting them. If you have problems you can then restore them by renaming them back.

You also don't need a full root to remove apps. I'll have to work on some instructions to show how to do it. You still need to go through some of the rooting process and you have to be carefull but after a reboot of the phone, you loose root access. This is usefull if you are doing this for a friend who isn't tech savvy and doesn't understand the risks of running root apps

+1 for JiT

i've optimized my phone and i got 589 at first run w quadrant (a minute after booting) and 599 after a few more minutes... :lol:
i've also tried the App2SD script giving me 1.4 Gigs for Apps and Games instead of the measly stock 200mb.
you can also try z4root for one-click rooting of the Eclair Mini/Pro :D

Are you guys not using the X10 Mini (Pro) AT ALL ?

The battery is soo extremely poor, after the 2.1 update I had to charge it every 8 hours. Somehow it can last up to 18 hours now. But this Jit optimizer thing must have a negative effect on the already very poor battery! So your phone would become unusable right?

JiT isn't overclocking :)
rather it's optimizing apps to work better and more efficiently.
less load, better battery life. :)

hi guys!

i wanted to root my minipro and remove preinstalled apps (ca gold rush, neoreader, peggle, rollercoaster, etc..) with titanium backup.

but if i would one day wanted to unroot and factory reset my phone (using seus, or companion) would it return my preinstalled apps?? (that are mentioned up)...
and if not, is it possible to backup all apps (including preinstalled) with titanium? so that i'm safe to uninstall them now, and potentially restore them later if needed

i'm asking this because of warranty, to hide all traces of rooting my phone...

thank you for your help!

Well ok I tried it... dont want to benchmark, should feel the difference by just using the phone right?

Is there any other way to test if JIT is enabled correctly?

btw if you are all about optimizing and efficiency, try Zeam Launcher instead of other launchers, I was amazingly suprised! Only 423 KB but works great, very fast and I like the effects.
