When the Xperia X10 was first announced, Sony Ericsson announced that its user interface would be known as the Nexus platform. Since then, however, a lot has changed in the mobile world and Google has launched its own handset by HTC, the Nexus One.

Given the buzz around the Nexus One, Sony Ericsson has decided to abandon the Nexus name for its platform and simply refer to it as the Timescape and Mediascape applications. Hardly a surprise, but an embarrassing step-down for SE.
