Root now available for latest Xperia X10 firmware

SuperOneClickSony Ericsson patched the ability to root an Xperia X10 in the latest firmware update release (2.0.2.A.0.24). The guys over at xda-developers worked around this by releasing pre-rooted versions of the new firmware. However, there is now a fully-working root solution for those who had already upgraded to the latest firmware.

The method uses SuperOneClick (v1.5.5) and it is as easy to apply as the Z4 Root method. Download this file from xda-developers, make sure your handset is in USB de-bugging mode, connect your handset to your PC and then run the program. It’s as simple as that and should take less than a minute to do. We had to manually restart our handset before we had SuperUser permissions though, so make sure you do that if it doesn’t happen automatically.

  4. Does the Camera working already with this custom ROM? Does it affects the video recording for being HD, its continuous autofocus? If this custom ROM affects its camera and recording, then it does not make sense to root. I would appreciate if those who had rooted already their X10 with this custom ROM could post here their review, like the Flash 10.1 is included, apps can now installed in the SD card, responsiveness of the screen, etc, etc. Thank you guys!!!!

  5. did the Hd recording still functioning? and how about the multi touch? hope to hear from rooted x10 user, really aprpeciate for you replies…. TQ!!

  6. My firmware is 2.0.1.A.0.47
    Is it possible to root?
Tried a lot with superoneclick but not happening..~!
    any solutions please!!!!

  7. I’ve been checking the phone status, and it looks the firmware is 2.1-update1 on this phone.

  8. ok guys… so what about putting the firmware out for those of us who dont root our phones?.. or are we shit outta luck…

  9. did the Hd recording still functioning? and how about the multi touch? and if the market still available? hope to hear from rooted x10 user, really aprpeciate for you replies…. TQ!!

  11. @Villa Do you have the X10 driver installed on your PC? By installing PC Companion for example?

  12. Anyone is aware about 2.1.a.0.309 or something like that

when they are be releaase !

the rooting apps works greate !!

  13. if after rooting apps that require root (e.g. titanium backup) say they can’t get root, try reinstalling the superuser app from market, solved the issue for me.

  14. there’s problem parsing with the package even after i change the name to apk. I’m using xperia mini pro btw

  15. I did the rooting very early yesterday with SuperOneClick, and had no issue. For those who can’t root, please look into the XDA thread for the alternative method.

For those who seemed to have it rooted but Titanium Backup says not, reinstall your busybox and superuser.

Also, try rebooting your device after root.

  16. It worked! Titanium Backup was messing a bit after rooting claiming that it did not get privileges, but by updating BusyBox and cleaning out all apps in the superuser app so they could ask for su again made the trick. Then I did the default after-gaining-root task: Removing the satans helvetes Moxier crap.
    I donated. Did you?

  17. Funciono de maravilla en mi x10 mini pro, pero si hay que reiniciar manualmente el telefono al finalizar.

  18. Great. Working super fine.

My X10 mini pro rooted at last !!! 🙂

Exellent Work . Keep it up. 😉

  19. Will this work on my x10i? and can i still update to the upcoming firmware if i rooted my phone?

  20. git rid of moxier mail and wise pilot , create touch…my phone is great and faster……………!!!!

  21. hey chaps!

all works great, very please i can use Titanium Backup

So my question is as follows.

How do i remove unwanted apps such as moxier ???

    Many thanks.

  22. can anyone please tell me if this root is temporary
or permanent???? in z4 root, a temporary root option is available.does this also supports this?

  28. @ Sprad… I’ve rooted my X10 a minute ago using SuperOneClick as review by this blog. If failed to root your device, try to reroot. Make sure the file of SuperOneClick is in PC, don’t move it to phone (sdcard). Then try to root again.

    Thank XDA Dev and XperiaX10.net.

  32. Can someone help me.. everytime i root my device using superoneclick, it goes to “Waiting for Device” and it gets stuck there. I thinks its because of the DRIVER, how can i install the driver for x10? help pls..

  33. Thanks! After recent update to allow pinch zoom…I lost my Z4 root. SuperOneClick brought it back AND gave me outside App Market ability. Very clever. Didn’t even have to reboot my phone. Trying out Easy Tether now….Thanks again!

  34. One tip, make sure you have the latest Sony X10 driver installed (via installing the PC Companion) before you try this. Otherwise you will be waiting for it…

  35. I just did root procedure to my SE X10 and I am glad it worked perfectly. I had to restart my phone though to get superuser app. and hit allow to proceed. Thanks so much…XDA!

  45. Read lots of praise re. Xda and this root method.
However ; I saw a lot of repeated questions re. High Def. resulation ; if still present after root.
Did Not see any answers to those questions.
Sounds like a marvelous App. But… The very important HD question ; is now very present in my mind.
Would very much like you to e-mail me the answer re. HD – Vid.Pic.taint and also, is the android market still available after the root ; will the device still be eligible for future up grades ???
    Please, advise.
    Thank you.
