First photos of official SE Gingerbread update for Xperia X10

Xperia X10 with GingerbreadSome of the first photos of the official Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread update for the Xperia X10 have been leaked by a user over at Chinese site ePrice. The images show the X10 running a launcher similar to the Xperia arc and the settings show it is running Android 2.3.3 with a 2.1.60 baseband and 2.6.29 kernel.

The user goes on to say that the update is quite stable and could be launched sooner than expected. However, he says it won’t be as smooth as the Xperia arc with the Neocore benchmark not exceeding 30fps. This could be a fake, but we’d say it’s probably an early build of the official Gingerbread update given the baseband. Check out some photos after the jump.

  6. fps cap will be dealt with by xda devs, theyve already removed it via custom kernel for existing roms, it no biggy.

  7. I can not wait for this to be released. After giving it a try if it’s not up to the task then a custom rom on the updated kernel.

  9. fake!!! the search widget does not have voice search, and the baseband,ker nel,firmware version text can be edited in build.prop in ~2 min :)), it`s only a skin!!!

  11. It looks a bit different than other gingerbread+ they keep on with the same old crap icons and the arc launcher…it does look like a fake if you look at the notif bar ,it probably is some xda stuff in development

  12. Seen xperia arc used it almost the same as x10. Sadly but going to choose atrix over arc. 🙁

  13. 29 kernel? why? do you know korean version motorola xt720(motoroi)? it froyo version is kernel 29, its terrible. most motoroi user give up froyo because, that is not better than eclair. i don’t wanna believe it. if it is true, i naver again to buy for sony’s phone. and i hope it is not just true.

    the score in Quadrant is not too slow! This sample gets 1251 as score; look the chinese characters near this number, they mean “your device” 😉

  19. Its a fake, the signal image should be green if it is a real gingerbread.
    This is only 2.1 with ARC theme and modded build.prop
    Or the ARC ROM ported to X10 with modded build.prop..

  26. I am pretty sure its a fake with 2.1 theme:

    1. Quadrant needs data to get results
    2. Settings background is 2.1
    3. Second picture looks badly cropped where dock is

    only my opinion but can be an early build 🙂

    Unlike the new xperia range the menu and return keys are reversed on the x10.

  33. definitely a fake…. no real leaker would run quadrant jus to prove he’s running gingerbread…. its more like he would show the features rather than showing off benchmarks which is pretty much useless in real world situations…. its prob a custom rom screen which there are like tons of these out there…..

    It has been released… Try checking by plugging into your PC and using SE companion. If it still doesn’t update then it may be that orange haven’t released it and you will have to go to a generic ROM.

  38. AOSP gingerbread photos, 2.1 kernel, chinese language. Those photos are not from SE, they’re from a chinese user who installed an arc theme/launcher and AOSP GB.

  40. do not really care, tired of SE, my contract is up in 2 months, and I am definitely not getting an SE phone.

    Arc should have been released last year and compete with Galaxy S and Desire HD. SE is a hopeless company. I’ve been a dedicated fan, I can post pics of my SE collection if anyone is interested. They’ve let me down for the last time, X10 is probably going to be the last SE phone I ever own.

    SE hardware design is top notch and unrivalled in my opinion, Arc is the best looking smartphone ever, but their software is way to buggy, slow and crap. The nightmares I went through with X1 and X10 will never be forgotten. They just cant get their act together.
