Android Honeycomb SDK ported to Xperia X10

Android Honeycomb SDK ported to Xperia X10Android development on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is continuing at a healthy pace. Chumby_666 from xda-developers has ported the Android Honeycomb SDK, meant for tablets, to the Xperia X10.

It’s still at a pre-Alpha stage so at the time of writing only the basic things are working including Wi-Fi, GPS, the user interface, keys and memory card. A recently released hotfix also makes the touchscreen work too. However, as a proof of concept it’s great to see this on the X10 along with the fact that the handset is continuing to attract new devs. Check out some screenshots after the break.

  1. Glad to see some people can spell the word “first”.

Getting back to the point. It can be seen that the Xperia X10 is a handset that is still pursued.

  2. these ‘first’ people are everywhere…
u go to any blogs, u will see them everywhere..

  3. Again another incomplete rom. What’s the use? Can they release a rom without the buts?

  4. Haha #Se is so kicking themselfs in the ass. Once they see this post, they’re going to have to apologize again! If this rom becomes decent ill put it on instead of se’s. 2.3 which is what -they- said wouldn’t run 3.0!

  5. @DooMLoRD
    +1
    @rine
you should appreciate the work developers are doing to make x10, invincible

  6. Fair enough regarding the comments about non complete ROMs, but my CM 6.1.3 with the recent updates works absolutely perfect. Held off using a non-official OS once 2.1 with multi-touch arrived, but recently got this ROM, and it is superior in every way. Take the risk people, it’s worth it!!!

  7. @rine If you cant release something thats works properly without bugs then talk. Until then sit yo ass down. Im grateful for XDA and monthly im floating from Trip’s MIUI to Wollfbreak CM roms. I cant wait for the complete bootloader recovery!

  8. Stop talking bullshit, if you dont like dont use it then and stick to your se crap rom.We ‘Thank’ these generous people for helping out

  9. Its good news….hopefully the devs come up with a stable version soon ! SE has a lot to learn from this !

  10. At least the se crap is complete. Will also release gingerbread. What is bullshit is when you keep on showing something and using something that is not complete. It is like driving a car without wheels.

  11. angry anderson, remember him, sang suddenly for scott and charlene in neighbours.

  12. to all the bean heads critisizing devs and incomplete roms, how do you think these roms become complete? they have to be released and tested by users who then report bugs which the devs work on… its like evolution it has to happen gradually as they are just 1 person with limited resources.
i think the devs are amazing. ive been using wolfbreaks cm6.1.3 which has been complete for a while with no buts, i believe trips miui and z’s feex10 are in the same state just various tweaks coming out now and then. what these people have achieved is nothing short of amazing i have alot of respect for them.

  13. Good work! :D. Im waiting for stable version or test this for fun some weekend.

  14. still the android 2.4 “ice-cream” not released…..then how u ported it to it…

  15. Don’t know why these people are complaining about incomplete roms being released. I’ve been using custom roms for 3 months and have yet to find anything that isn’t working. It’s not like SE or any of the manufacturers release complete roms themselves they seem to release and let us find the bugs as well.

  16. the reason people “complain” is, why would we want a rom where the touchscreen doesnt work?

I find it fascinating the porting, and rom work for my handset, but i’m never going to download one that is that crippled. instead of it being a “release” it should be a “beta update” or something.
I think it’s the wording that confuses people.

  17. @steve

what dont you understand about pre-alpha?

if you dont understand software terminology then do some research before you complain.

  18. pre alpha is before beta testing, usualy done in the middle east, if they can use the device then everyone else will be fine.

  19. @rine – You’re a TroLOLOLOLOLOL..JUST SHUT UP!!!..Don’t like it then take a hike..

  20. Great to have you back. Have you talked to God yet? Well, tell him that WE NEED GB NOWWW. or else, he should rip sony ericsson’s employees heads off and shit down their necks, old style.

  21. would the roMUlen from the arc work on my x10?
I need a rAm chip that is bigger than the one i have got.
i use 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to charge my phone

  22. if someone can give me the step by step guide on how to install custom kernel on Z’s freex10 b4 and tell how stable is custom kernel with freex10 , i would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

I’ve been using z’s free x10 for about three months now and had no problems at all couldn’t recommend it highly enough. As for a step by step guide your best bet is to look on these forums for the jit compiler walk through from around feb/march time. If you can get that working then it will be a simple step to install free x10. If you can’t get the jit compiler on and working then installing a custom rom is probably not for you. Saying that I had no idea what I was doing but after doing the jit compiler I’m now confident in doing custom roms and adding any of the updates that have come through subsequently. Go for it if you get stuck type into google what you’re trying to do and it will lead you to a help page somewhere.

  24. I’m sorry, im such a dummass, just now i realized that x10 havent got the camera in front, thats why it will not get video caling option… Real moron, sorry guys 🙂

  25. although I don’t think that it’s practical to wear some kind of fucked up mirror, buy a phone with camera in front if you want to do Video Calling. Coz actualy when I was using it on Nokia, I felt, and everybody else thought that im an idiot, so my solution is retarted as well as the question.

  26. @ahmad : thanx for the reply 🙂 well when u hav got a high end phone and the feature is lacking, even the worst way to solve the problem is fine :)so i go with your options 🙂 yes, wanted to confirm about the option of video calling as now using fring for video calls suck a lot of data on 3g and is very expensive 🙁 i checked samsung galaxy ace review and found it had video calling option though it doest feature a front facing camera:)it runs on froyo and so i thought may be all higher android platforms support video calling without a front facing cam:) just hope the option is added x10 also 🙂
    thank you 🙂

  27. @ahmad : Where can v find such mirrors?? any idea?? where did u get it from??
