CyanogenMod 7.1 released for X8; Xperia X10 version due in a few days

CyanogenModAs we were expecting, CyanogenMod 7.1 has been released supporting a number of Sony Ericsson Xperia devices. So far all of the 2011 Xperia range is supported, but only the Xperia X8 from the 2010 range. Don’t worry though as head honcho Steve Kondik has confirmed that the Xperia X10 version will be coming in a few days.

The main delay is that it is missing installation documentation. We imagine the X10 mini family will get the update at the same time. This is great news and is testament to all of the hard work put in by the FreeXperia team and of course Sony Ericsson’s assistance in providing hardware and driver assistance. We’ll report back when the Xperia X10 CyanogenMod update is available to download.

  1. This firmware looks amazing but was wondering will my x10 need to be rooted with xrecovery installed or will they provide the tools to install this?

  2. that great news!
To think, they work so hard to bring us this ROM to a phone that was released more than 2 years ago, we should really appreciate that and donate if we can

  3. Sweet. Cant wait. But according to the cyanogenmod devices list, no xperia phone is even listed as supported..

  4. I hope for a nice review os this before I upgrade my x10.

And a guide for how to do it with a X10 with 2.3.3 would be nice.

  5. Wonderful news… a few days for the X10 though? I can’t wait that long!! haha

And like a previous poster has said.. super that this is being released for an phone so old.

  6. This is Android 2.3.7. Also, kernel changes and loads of other CyanogenMOD stuff is included.
BTW, CyanogenMOD 7.1 has also been released for X10 Mini Pro. πŸ™‚

  7. Hope that Wifi works fine! I change back to SE rom because he didnt connect automaticlly to Wifi networks πŸ™

Someone knows if this issue is fixed in 7.1?

  8. This looks promising! Hopefully someone does post a “How To”… for us newbies! πŸ™‚ I’m kinda excited about this… phone needs to last me 1 more year… then I’ll get me the Xperia Pro… finally available in Canada… a year after I waited for the original X10 Mini Pro… which never came out!

  9. As usual i assume the release will be accompanied with the necessary links and guides. I rooted my X10 when Gingerbread came out and found a nice custom rom with the Bravia engine included. I cant wait what the new mod brings. I’m even happier with my X10 now that i was when i got it. anyone who hasnt upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3.3 yet (custom or SE) i can seriously recommend doing so. My phone is faster thanm when i first got it nearly a year ago… among phones, this is the Jackpot!

  10. Im still stuck on 2.1 as o2 UK dont seem to be doing an update, everyone keeps rating going custom however i have no clue what to do any helpers out dare

I Am Also On o2 Stuck On 2.1, But I Have Installed The MiniCM7 Rom And Its The Best Thing Ive Ever Done, Give The Mini Pro Such A New Look Of Life! I Suggest You do It.

  12. AndrΓ©, Sasa and Craig, you need to unlock the bootloader before installing the official cyanogen.

  13. Dont start talking crap on this tread lets just keep this clean a update each other when cm 7.1 is ready

  14. it will be crap and buggy, leave it alone sony is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It takes a bit of reading and a computer with internet access to do it, but its not that hard to root the X10 and then upgrade the stock rom 2.1 to 2.3.3, either the SE rom or a neat custom rom.

Most important thing is to root your phone and get X-recovery installed. When that is installed on your phone and you have dowloaded the proper tools on your pc, and have rom you wish in a folder on your SD-card, your good to go. DONT change the ROM until you used a 3rd party backup program for your contacts (and not the SE tool). if you still dont get it, mail me @ nhn4952@gmx.com

    Good luck!

  16. and to all the haters, please grow up. if you are so eager to get a perfect ROM, build one yourself. the ppl that build these roms have done all the work for you, even written Noob guides on how to install… be grateful or help with the development!

  17. Hey everyone,
Just curious if CM 7.1 requires a kernel/bb flash over the stock X10 kernel/bb from gingerbread? My u-usb port is broken so I cannot connect my phone into flash mode.

  18. Thanks ATH will give that a try tonight as bored of 2.1 and that will give me something new to play with until cm 7.1

  19. will this drain my battery even more? im kind of getting sick of hoping my x10 is compatible with the latest roms/updates etc. looking for a new phone now

  20. did i get the updates too……..? my hand set is xperia x 10 mini pro 2010 range phone…. could anyone pls reply…….

  21. What ever happened to this i really wanted to flash my phone to this rom, but it never turned up, im guessing this is never gonna happen

  22. they said : “We imagine the X10 mini family will get the update at the same time” but what is with the X10 mini Pro ?

  23. I do believe CM 7.1 will not be released for xperia x10…:(
It’s already past “a few days”….too bad though coz’ I like the interface of the CM roms because its fast compared to the stock ROMS…

  24. Guys, I upgraded my X10 mini pro to android 2.3.7 yesterday using this guide:
    http://omni-medical.co.uk/articles.php?article_id=4

The guide has been online since may, and it works perfectly if you just read through the comments to spot the few troubles people had with it.

To be honest though, there’s is not that big of a reason to upgrade to gingerbread with the mini pro, since most 2.3 apps won’t work with the small screen resolution. Getting rid of all the unnecessary apps and being able to save apps to SD are welcome though. Just bear in mind that it won’t be able to do all sorts of flashy new stuff, I mean, voice search is nice and all but it’s not like it mature enough to be a tool you’re going to use on a day to day basis. Just my two cents.
