Sony Ericsson A8i hits China Mobile with Xperia styling

Sony Ericsson A8iSony Ericsson has announced a new TD-SCDMA Android handset for China Mobile called the A8i that takes more than a few influences from the current Xperia X10 family. The handset comes with a 3.5-inch (854 x 480) display, 5MP camera along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS support.

The phone runs a custom flavour of Android called OPhone that is common within the region. Pricing and availability isn’t known for now, but it is expected to be released in two colours, “Titanium Black” and “Shiny White”. We may even see Sony Ericsson release this display size and chassis across western markets at some point in the future too.

  1. Why didn’t Sony consider this one for world-wide release? Considering what they are using this would be a great phone to price under the x10.There is wiggle room in the middle for a phone to come after the x10 mini pro and the x10. Why not stick 2.1 from the jump and offer a cheaper smaller x10 priced correctly, and you might have a winner.
