‘Xperia X10 HD’ already shipping in France with Android 2.1?

Xperia X10 HDWe recently told you that Sony Ericsson may be looking to rebrand the Xperia X10 once the Android 2.1 update complete with HD video recording is released. Well according to French e-tailer RueduCommerce.com, the ‘Xperia X10 HD’ is already in stock and on sale, setting you back €529 (with a €50 postal rebate).

If true, it could mean the Android 2.1 release is just days away for the rest of us who already own a Xperia X10 or X10 mini. If there were any doubts that Sony Ericsson is rebranding the handset, then check out page 3 of this PDF, where they list the “Nouveau (new) Xperia X10 HD”.

well it makes sense to rebrand something to give it more cred but im doubting the 2.1 release with 02 will be soon considering tmobile have said end of november and the fact 02 have constantly pissed of htc customers by taking up and down the 2.2 android update and thats gone on for 3 months im not holding out on getting this update anytime soon.

2 vekz October 24, 2010 at 3:04 PM

If I see it right, they aren’t selling it alongside the “original” X10. So I say it’s the same phone, only with a HD-sticker to make sure people see the fact that it has 720p-recording..

3 Recon October 24, 2010 at 3:07 PM

if they are re-branding maybe it will be a good thing for the rest of us. someone who buys this x10 hd will expect at least to have an update to 2.2 in the near future…

4 John October 24, 2010 at 3:14 PM

As I have written before:

Claro, on of the large providors in Latin America, is already selling the X10 HD. Unfortunately it is X10a with Android 1.6.

5 Guy October 24, 2010 at 4:22 PM

So if I have my story straight, they’re selling x10’s with 2.1 but existing owners still have 1.6? :/

6 Al October 24, 2010 at 4:47 PM

@vekz they are selling it alongside the original X10 for 429 euros. http://www.rueducommerce.fr/Telephonie/Smartphone-PDAphone/Telephone-Portable-Mobile-Smartphone-PDAphone/SONY-ERICSSON/3003417-Smartphone-Xperia-X10-Sensuous-Black.htm

I thought they still needed time to or rather they were still testing out the update, so how is it that thy are already selling with the update?

If this website is to be believed and is actually true then it seems like Sony Ericsson is just FUCK**G with us, the existing X10 owners.

7 marco October 24, 2010 at 4:52 PM

8 marco October 24, 2010 at 4:54 PM

15 Robert Yuna October 24, 2010 at 6:34 PM

Great, take care of your new customers first and screw your existing customers. Nice way to get repeat business.

16 Perceval October 24, 2010 at 7:15 PM

OMG I bought my X10 from this site and the last payment was… 4 days ago 😀
I just checked PC Companion, and no new firmware coming in France. Too ugly :'(

17 jigsy October 24, 2010 at 7:29 PM

wat is the latest software update?? mine is R2BA026.

18 marco October 24, 2010 at 7:33 PM

the R2BA026 is the android 1.6 and it has been in the server (se) from July and it has the wifi bug!!! is it quite old

19 marco October 24, 2010 at 7:35 PM

But is the lastest version at the time now because 2.1 is not yet possible to download for generic unlocked X10 uk

20 vekz October 24, 2010 at 7:48 PM

@ Al: indeed.. looks like you’re right. What’s the point in asking more money for the same device? Guess that’s the question everyone’s been asking themselves, right?

Off topic: what’s this WiFi-bug you’re all talking about? It works perfectly fine over here.

21 henk janse October 24, 2010 at 7:52 PM

gladly ive traded my x10i on a htc desire hd.
2.2 on release, and its only end october i wish good luck to the x10 comunity and hope that the 2.2 release won’t take to long

Seeya

22 zodiac October 24, 2010 at 8:01 PM

500+ Euros for x10? That’s just a pure con. Criminal in my opinion. Where are trading standards when you need them?

23 alan October 24, 2010 at 9:15 PM

On this website the X10 was sold 489 € so stop complaining. Anyway in France nobody buys a phone without contract so forget this price.

It was announced on many websites the xperia x10 hd will appear before the upgrade. This is marketing ! Don’t worry, soon you will have your upgrade and will begin to whine about the lack of android 2.2…

24 TGO October 24, 2010 at 9:20 PM

Why did I buy the X10, I should have got the HTC Desire like everyone else, now I have to update my firmware to get HD recording on my X10 when I could have bought the £400+ HTC desire and paid another £400+ few months later for the HTC Desire HD, seriously Sony should take notes off HTC.
/end of sarcasm

25 PaulS October 24, 2010 at 9:31 PM

@henk janse The Desire HD looks a sweeeeeet device! Wish I could afford to switch, but I dont see much wrong with the X10, and im not desperate – Its just now I know not to go with S.E for my phone. Good Luck with HTC!

26 lee October 24, 2010 at 11:13 PM

Hey, I have read a few comments about the R2BA026 update and was wondering if anyone could tell me how come my x10 cant find any update from the R2BA020?

My x10 is Orange branded from the UK if that has anything to do with it. Also is there anywhere I can get this update ?

27 antar October 25, 2010 at 12:17 AM

You can always debrand to UK generic and update it that way. For more info, visit xda developers site

28 LiLAsN October 25, 2010 at 4:36 AM

I’ve confirmed with SE Singapore that the update will be available tomorrow evening here in Singapore. Which means, it’ll be on 26 Oct for us since we are a tad bit faster than our US counterpart in terms of timing. Now is almost 12 noon on Monday, 25 Oct.

29 Sagar Ved October 25, 2010 at 5:24 AM

hope we get it today in INDIA!!!!

30 lalaine October 25, 2010 at 5:30 AM

i just wanna ask if im gwtting update here in philippines… thank u…

31 Stan October 25, 2010 at 5:37 AM

Time to start debranding my phone to get the latest update!

32 Sagar Ved October 25, 2010 at 5:56 AM

Fingers crossed
All the best to all countries!!!!!!!

33 povlo October 25, 2010 at 6:38 AM

typically how long do the network companies take to bloat the new firmware with their crap and release it for branded handsets? anyone?

34 Damo October 25, 2010 at 7:48 AM

399,90 € !! Thats how much you have to pay for it in germany without a contract by now. If they really want to sell the Phone for 530 € just because of the new Firmware they are the biggest fools and i think if they sell the x10 hd in december they won´t bring out the new firmware until then. That would be very disappointing and I would never belive thme again…that would be big mistake no. 3 from SE… 1st. update delay one day before it should be relased, 2. Lying about multitouch on the american website (they took the word multitouch out from the website very shortly before the relase…), and no.3 would be selling the same x10i for more money…merry Christmas se you are really fu**ed if youre not updating the phone in the next day’s …

35 overpowered October 25, 2010 at 7:55 AM

When will it come to Belgium? Thanx alott! 🙂

36 ahmad October 25, 2010 at 8:09 AM

the price has gone up! I don’t know why, even the software is old considering to other android phones.

37 Alex October 25, 2010 at 8:23 AM

I work for Vodafone AU, and we’ve had the branding up for X10 HD up for around a month now. It’s still the same phone, they’re just taking advantage of advertising it’ll have HD recording.

38 Bayhas Kana October 25, 2010 at 8:30 AM

So the hardware is the same? and this is just a regular X10 with 2.1?

Or would this edition have a 16Mil color screen and higher resolution?

39 Sagar Ved October 25, 2010 at 9:47 AM

BAD NEWS>>>>>>>
Today I had gone to sonyericsson service centre in mumbai(INDIA)
and the employee told me the os update for x10 will hit in december

50 dm October 26, 2010 at 12:26 AM

So…any geo got the update already? To be honest, I don’t believe it will arrive to irish customers during october…plus, i’ll still need to wait for my carrier to shove all their “useful bundled software” down the update. Oh well, maybe christmas(2011 that is).

51 keith October 26, 2010 at 12:40 AM

Hey guys I just talked to the guy who works for rogers in Vancouver
He said that u can dl the 2.1 at nov 7 on the se web site.

52 saad October 26, 2010 at 12:42 AM

there is a new pc companion update, does is mean something ?

53 steve October 26, 2010 at 1:04 AM

lol yeah my pc companion just updated too, it’s probably to prep the program for the eventual 2.1 upgrade.

man, I remember last month around this time when I’d check for updates every 10 minutes… crap, it’s gonna be like that again this week. I seriously hope the same thing that happened last month doesn’t happen this Friday.

54 tike October 26, 2010 at 1:17 AM

wuhhuuu soundz like i gettin’ the update!! pc campanion just downloaded a paket nd there is a notification that my phone is gettin updatet!! 2.1 i hope!! what a great moment..hopefully it’s working =D

55 tike October 26, 2010 at 1:38 AM

haha..

ERROR! during update.. like everytime you open pc companion it says that there is an update for your phone but when you try it to update, there is an error message .. so WHAT THE HELL is goin on!!

56 LiLAsN October 26, 2010 at 2:37 AM

@Saad. Yes. There was an update yesterday for both PC Companion and SEUS.
Also, Sony Ericsson Singapore posted an update on Facebook just before midnight yesterday to show what we can look forward to in the new update. These apps can easily be downloaded in the market but oh well.. Anyway, I am going down to SE to debrand my phone and get the update which they promised to be this evening. That’s like 8 more hours or so to go! 😀

Guys. Another FirmWare has been approved on the website today.
http://www.ptcrb.com/ctiastaff/complete/view_complete_request.cfm?modelid=16755
Oh man…

58 WTF October 26, 2010 at 5:13 AM

i’m from singapore too…. haha…. hope singtel, m1 and starhub push the updates out real fast… i know they dont really bloat the firmware much so there shouldnt be too much delay in approving the firmware for use here…. anyway, those apps are on the market but at a price… its nice to see SE-sg offering them at no cost to us…

59 dualbore October 26, 2010 at 7:31 AM

SE can state what they want wherever they want, I won’t make the mistake of believing them again. On the contrary, I’m currently waiting for another “Sorry, guys, we just found his and that and need another month”, or something to that extent.
Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but learning about another postponement would surprise me less than an update actually hitting my phone.

Care about customers….phew…shit, no. Care about profit!

60 Topher October 26, 2010 at 8:15 AM

My PC companion got an update this morning but my x10 does’nt. If I have PC companion, do i have to use SEUS? Which is better?

61 air max france April 12, 2011 at 12:21 PM

Sony est une cible très dure à DDoSer, et vue notre puissance de feu actuelle, on ne peut pas faire tomber de gros sites. Heureusement pour nous, Sony a de nombreux autres sites plus petits.
