Many have been asking the question about whether the Xperia X10 will receive the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update at some point in the future, either through official or custom means. Well those chances have been boosted as one of the xda wizards has released an Android 2.3 preview ROM for the Xperia X10, which runs on the existing kernel (2.6.29).
This is not a custom ROM and shouldn’t be seen as such, it is simply an emulator for Gingerbread that shows people what they can expect from the latest release. Originally, there were rumours that Android 2.3 had minimum hardware requirements attached to it, but this has been shot down by Android engineers. So hopefully there are few barriers that should stop X10 owners seeing at least a custom Gingerbread ROM at some point down the line. Check out a video of it in action after the jump.

well, if i get 2.3 on my X10 i will make love to it!
hope Sony Ericsson wakes up.
cooool
Lol, Swedishbabes
Problem, Sony Ericsson? *trollface*
SE , if are even awake , see it and also in XDAforum , custom ROMS are poping up with all kinds of customization including JIT enabled… its time ur paid developers do some work instead of sleeeping…
If Android 2.3 appear on my X10, SE has gain my confident back;
or else, SE will become history…at least to me.
Still SE’s catastrophic mistake of no multi-touch is gonna live up until gingerbread!
i don’t wanna see gingerbread with single touch!!
fuck you SE
Hopefully x10 owners will b able to use gingerbread in near future. But this is a very shamefull thing for se. I think they know it very well but its their marketing strategy to sale other newcoming models. Thts why they r hiding this from us.
dude..
i am waiting for it..
i love to use android 2.3 on my x10…
i thought that xperia is not capable of 2.2 and 2.3…
but this video give me lot of hopes…
thanks guys
Oh my, if this becomes real, will be probably the biggest thing on the SE world! lol
hmmm again it shows that that se tech guys cant do a jovb right when hackers etc can do a job so easy as this.. personally i think they should sack the tech team and hire all these guys as its obvious they can do a better job se do us a favour open the bootloader before these guys figure it out and show you up
Lol half the video is about the guy trying to get his cam to focus on the android version, which he never manages to.
Still, pretty happy to see 2.3 on our x10s.
@swapniladsur the fact that LG optimus one runs froyo smoothly, and its an 800 Mhz processor phone, then SE says can’t implement it! shame. still I hope they admit their mistake and have some work done.
Shame about the camera…but it was ok.
Please finish 2.2 first!!

gingerbread, come out! come out! where ever you are?????
That is no hoax, it is a real rom and not some emulator as the text above indicates
1st Root
2nd add xRecovery
3rd install Custom roms , backup roms etc via xRecovery

X10 will never ever see the light of 2.3. EVER. Maybe a hacked version by XDA but not from SE.
The best we can hope for is 2.2, but I even doubt that.
As always, leave it to the good folks at XDA to get the job done, as always, SHAME ON YOU SE YOU WEAK PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A CELL PHONE COMPANY.
will they throw the media shit way …..
b’shit eats up all the processor and ram…
welcome 2.3
Galaxy S gettin 2.3 -.-‘
o dear here we go. nerds with i want i want i want
you all are basket-scrambler.
Thank SE that they made your Xperia major updated at once.
Don’t get carried away.
we never saw the software version…
smells fake to me
Wisenos, I assure you it’s not fake. I even tested it on my X10.
SE suck at making phones. I want to scream with pain when I shove a phone up my ass, but sadly the X10 falls short. The HTC Desire HD on the other hand leaves me piles for a week fater I stick that baby deep inside my rectum and orgasm with glee.
If 3G is not working, it’s useless to me.
[…] here is a video from Xperiax10.net of Sony Ericsson X10 running on Android 2.3 preview ROM, on the existing kernel […]

I want my x10 android 2.1 to be update android 2.3….
Well, I updated my AT&T Xperia X10 to 2.1 tonight and man what a freaking difference. I had an HTC Tilt2 running 2.2 XDAndroid before and on top of it LauncherProPlus with all the enhancements and had to put it on 2.1. Word to the wise, the 3D excelleration of LauncherProPlus was used or ripped off or whatever to be incorporated into 2.3 Gingerbread, so get the upgrade.
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
download the flashtool, and grab the rom on that page that matches your phone. Mine is AT&T in the Florida, so it took about 5 minutes to load, not a big deal. BTW, Sony Ericcson’s Xperia Arc is coming out in 2 months pre-loaded with Gingerbread. I’m sure that the mad scientists at XDA will have it ported for X10A shortly based on that model. The differences between the two phones are marginal at best.

i m really fed-up with this 2.1 need 2.3 ,but now i m not gonna sit quite i will try to install 2.3 on my x10i, if it works properly then i will inform u then u can also install it…….
With so many manufactures choosing Android as their OS, the only real distinction between brands is the quality of after sales support.
Of course the manufactures would sooner you bought a new phone, than upgrade the software… Its the old idea of built in obsolescence, VS a geeky idea of upgrades.
You almost got it focused!!! in the end.. (I notisted you really tried 😉
why o.s system can support android version??
why android version can’t upgrade version to o.s?
Just inquiry make android version can support for all H.D games like o.s system.
