Up until now most of the custom ROM love has gravitated towards the flagship Xperia X10. However, there are now a number of xda-developer ninjas porting custom ROMs to both the X10 mini range and the Xperia X8.
There are a number of different custom ROM’s currently in progress so hopefully it shouldn’t be too long before we have a stable Froyo ROM for the X10 mini’s and X8. They already have most stuff working (including Wi-Fi), but the camera appears to be a sticking point. For those interested in following their progress you can click here, here and here.
Thanks t-rex and Mihkel!

Ninjas (plural) and not ninja’s (possessive).
Yes, I know I’m anal.
I’d like to thank the developers at xda for their great suppor. Thank for providing the global firmware, thank you for rooting the X10 and thank you for making froyo possible on the X10
@Untitled – We’re anal too – good spot!
Actually, for X8 there is now also Gingerbread in the works…
Thanks god for hobbist developers. 😀 Now this is real meaning of open source .. no commercial bonds dictated by companies. Thank You XDA guys! 🙂
hi, thanks XDA a lot !!! who’s doing the Custom Rom ??? What’s your reaction ??? Is it good for a daily utilisation ??? Thanks a lot for your answer !
Am I right in thinking that even with Froyo the Mini and Mini pro will not have Flash due to the low screen resolution?
They already starting alpha gingerbread on mini’s
cant wait for it to be stable and flashes to our phone
+1 to mikhevel n owain94 for pro’s
Dave, You are half right, Mini and Mini Pro will now have flash even with Froyo, but not beaceuse the low resolution, it will be because they have an ARM v6 and Flash requires ARM v7 CPU 😛 anywais we ll be able to use Flash Lite and Quadronia shows arround 1000 score, thats like 40% better performance.
Have seen this a while before…
WIll install after it is out of beta
Wow, that’s such great news! Fray would be welcome performance enhancement to the mini and mini pro specially with their slower CPUs!
this is great! thx XDA! ure the best and too much better than sony team! ^_^
SONY ERICSSON ON 2.3 KEEP UP XDA 😛 I DOUBT ANYBODY WITH AN XPERIA PLAY WILL WANT TO RISK BUTCHRING IT WITH XDA #JUST SAYING 😀
@se fan
If it werent for XDA then the current range would be stuck on 2.1. XDA have alpha versions of 2.3 for X10, X10 Mini already. Fingers up to SE.
@SSIMON
THE CURRNT RANGE IS STUCK ON 2.1 LOL X10 BUT XDA HAS SAVED YOU! THE NEW RANGE WAS ALWAYS IN THE WORKS WHILE YOU WERE USING YOUR X10 DONT BE SO NIEVE WHY WOULD THEY UPDATE IT TO 2.2 WHEN THEY CAN MAKE YOU BUY A NEW ONE ITS CALLED MAKING A PROFIT!
YOU MUST BE REALLY DUMB GET OVER IT!
oh and btw
Motorola’s Atrix 4G and LG’s Optimus 2X brand new android phones shipping with 2.2 so stop your stupid moaning SE not behind they ahead now
maybe se should hand over complete support for the x10 to xda they would do a far better job at it
Why don’t you mention the great improvements of this rom? Both camera and camcorder do work now!
how to use file manager in x10 mini
So, you guys are facing the same issues as me with my Samsung Galaxy Spica.
It is running a custom Froyo rom now, that works pretty good.
I was looking for an X10 Pro, to put Froyo on it. Is it a fast enough gem, like Spica?
Please somebody tell me how to upgrade xperia mini pro to android 2.3 or 2.2 using xda software
se sucks
question: is there a stable custom rom 2.3 or higher for xperia x8? desperately need one 😐
