Rogers Reacts?

Rogers Reacts?

Rogers(Canada) Wireless
has advised me to contact them on day 1 of month 7 of my 36 month contract, about 2 weeks from now. :|
I need to contact the Customer Relations department regarding cancelling my contract :) to go to another provider with "Proper Hardware"
Once I have passed 6 months, my contract can be reviewed and it would seem that device expectations and performance are enough of an issue in my contract that I will be able to get "Proper Hardware" to remedy outstanding problems with my S.E. X10's (2 of them). :D
In another post I made on a different thread, I mentioned that the "squeaky wheel gets the grease". I hope that's true 8-)
If I do get new hardware and they don't want the X10's back, I'm off to do EVERYTHING I can with XDA's nuggets of genius :geek: :ugeek:
Then I will see what is better without interupting my service. I'm prone to screwing up flashing devices and still own a $1,200 Acer paperweight to prove it

I will update here when the process unfolds
 In the meantime, if anybody else on Rogers  that is past 6 month mark of contract wants to call them and post what happened here, that would be great! 8-)

:) The Verdict was passed today: EARLY HARDWARE UPGRADE! :D
If I choose to get new hardware, I will be offered a discount that totals to about how much my mopnthly plan costs x4.
This totals to hundreds of dollars off new hardware, but my choices are limited. I am just starting to check now which hardware has 2.2 or later, so if any of the handsets I list below don't have or won't have 2.2 or later, please let me know.

My initial NON Sorry Errorsson choices limited by what is available on my network are as follows:
LG Loop Android 1.6 :x Internal:120 MB :( /Expandable:Up to 32 GB
HTC Magic + (Unknown which Android shipped with) Internal:512 MB/Expandable:Up to 16 GB
Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 Internal:8 GB/Expandable:Up to 32 GB
Dell Streak Android 1.6 :x Internal:1.4GB  /Expandable:Up to 32 GB
Acer Liquid MT Android 2.2 Internal:Up to 512 MB/Expandable:Up to 32 GB
Motorola Flipout Android 2.1 :( Internal:256 MB :( /Expandable:Up to 32 GB
Blackberry Phones (NO THANKS)
iPhone 3GS (8GB) (NO THANKS)
iPhone 4 32GB :?:
iPhone 4 16GB :?:
This is going to be a VERY hard decision,
Thoughts anybody?

Sorry fella but with those limited choices I'd stick with my X10i, if they were to offer an HTC Desire/HD or Samsung Galaxy then it might be worthwhile with internet whispers of those phones getting Gingerbread updates soon.

They were supposed to have Galaxy S, but I can't find it on their website anymore... I'm gonna take some time on this and who knows, maybe some new devices will arrive in the next few weeks ;) 8-)

Well, Im not Apple fan (anymore) neither Windows fan, so I wouldn't get any of those phones... iOS is the most terrible portable OS I've used, and Windows Mobile = unsecure system all the time

Between those options and X10, well... I'd keep my X10. Or wait for Samsung Galaxy. Captivate is another good option too. (beware: rumors say that Samsung will lock the bootloader soon).
I've using Linux over 6 years by now, but I never image before that I could have its power on my hand. Android made that possible.

So many options, but I think I'll wait for dual core phones to hit the shelves. Now that official 2.3 has been announced for X10, I'm pretty stoked

GB = Gingerbread.

CM7 or Cyanogen Mod 7 is based on the Gingerbread 2.3 OS, although not supported by the Cyanogen Team. I have to say it's a lovely ROM but far too unstable for daily use IMO, WLOD and STRSC still causing reboots.
2.3.3 RC2 v0009 was the last build I tested so it may have improved as it's currently RC2 v0011, I only reverted back to FreeX10 Froyo because I need Barnacle for my Laptop at work. Do miss CM7 but I'm waiting until we get CM7 with a custom kernel and hopefully more stability.

Thanks JayJ 8-) Guess I was having a brain fart...Nary a moment of sobriety this weekend... ;)

I've shared my views on rooting and roms before. Being on call 24/7 sucks and my phone has to be always ready. Reading posts about roms unstable for daily use just fuels my unroooted fire. Until I have another fully functional smartphone, I just can't possibly brick my primary communications device. You guys are great for what you do and sharing advice. I continue to learn here regularly and appreciate all the tips.

This thread is about my service provider stepping up because of S.E.'s epic fail. Now that 2.3 (GB) news has broken; my need for another device is waning. I believe that the hardware upgrade eligibility I now have is still available and no time limit was mentioned. New devices are expected soon and I'm interested in learning more about dual core phones. 4G isn't available on my network and I'm limited to what they have available to receive my upgrade discount. I'm thinking of starting a new thread about what phone should I get, but I kind of alway started that on somebody else's thread "I love my X10 but...".

In other news, I'm near end of contract with another number on account that is for number recognition only. Plan and device both cheap and I can port number to another network. My buddy got an LG Optimus 1 on a discount provider. He paid $200 for the phone on no contract with nominal monthly charges and he can bail anytime if he sees something he'd like more on another network. So many devices, so little time. :geek:
