Timescape on 2.1

Postby russthedutch » Sat Jan 15, 2011 5:51 pm

Hello,
I can't figure out how to set Timescape as my home screen on 2.1 update. I liked using it (although I know some people say it's crap but I never had an issue). The way to do it seemed to have changed since the update.

Fireware 1.6 I could just go into the settings on Timescape and choose "set as Home" but now that option has gone. Apparently now, I have to go into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Home>Clear Defaults. After I've done that I should be able to set a new default as Timescape.

However, I still can't seem to choose Timescape to launch as default.

How do I do it?

Many thanks.

That because SE didn't include this feature with the Android 2.1 update!

Sorry but there isn't a better answer.

So I can't use it as Home?
That's silly!
Oh well..
Thanks...

If that's the case, how can I completely remove all the SE 'skin' and have a normal android 2.1?

By flashing a custom ROM like I have, I'm running android FreeX10 2.2 beta1 by Zdzihu from XDA Developers.

Sounds complicated... I'm technical but not with phones I wouldn't want to mess it up. Maybe one day.
Thanks.

Not actually as complicated as it sounds.

1. Root your phone.

2. Download and Install xRecovery apk

3. Run xRecovery apk to enable xRecovery.

4. Download FreeX10 Froyo beta1, Hotfix4, Hotfix4a and gapps_latest freex10

5. Turn phone off or reboot, when white Sony Ericsson logo appears press back button several time to boot into Recovery.

6. Choose Recovery "Back up & Restore" option to nandroid back up your phones current set up.

7. Once back up is complete install FreeX10.zip, Hotfix.zip and Gapps.zip

You would now have an X10 running Froyo with native app2sd, download Adobe Air and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 to enable browser flash.

It is still beta so there are bugs and random reboots.

Check out my thread.

That's not that bad... I might do that one day when I no longer can stand how slow my phone is taking to scroll the menus :)

Cheers.
