Questions about upgrading and network unlocking

I bought a x10a off ebay some time ago. it was on rogers, my sim is t-mobile usa. I had to pay an unlock service online because all the pin unlock attempts had been used up. I want to upgrade to the generic north american 2.1 firmware but I am worried, will this relock my phone network? Anyone know what will happen?

This will not affect your SIM lock, once unlocked, always unlocked.
Only your firmware will change.

Probably be fine. Other users on here are very much into trying lots of different custom Roms & Mods
Read other posts on forums here regarding how to do the flashing very easily. There are many recomendations if you dig through forums.
Many say X10 is unbrickable . I'm flashing to Generic when the GB 2.3.3 update comes out.
Arc & Play users are saying 2.3.3 update has a couple serious bugs right now
I don't want to have to retrain all my settings etc multiple times because that can be time consuming

You phone will not be locked again. Once unlocked always unlocked, it has nothing to do with the system on your phone.

You'll be just fine mate.
reflashing your phone with a generic rom, or a stock SE rom wont affect your simlock as mentioned before.

And yeah, this se is close to unbrickable!
started trying with roms and mods few months earlier, this is the best phone to learn it all with thats for sure.
And when it does go wrong, just reflash using sony ericsson software on ur pc.

It's when the bootloader is unlocked and you start messing with the kernel, that's when you brick phones.
The X10's bootloader has been bypassed so not sure whether you can brick like that?
