Contacts Erased

Guys I searched the forum and my problem is unique. Last night I had just finished a conversation and started dinner. After dinner I picked up the phone to make a call and to my utter surprise, entire call log and contact list was gone. I know folks have had this problem after firmware update to A2.1 but mine was 2.1 since last 3 Months! and just like that without doing anything, it was gone. BTW I saw an "update available" in the notification area. I don't presume it has anything to do with it cos I haven't done the update yet. The rest of the phone features are working normal, No apps are missing and phone is working just fine.

I tried restarting the phone, removed sim card, SD card.. changed settings but couldn't get them back. My latest backup is 3 months old and Ive added lots of important contacts since then. Is there any way of restoring them back. Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually the 'Stupid Sensor' went off when i was talking to a person, so many things got touched and i ended up at a screen that showed some settings, without
giving it a second look i pressed show contacts > Online. From that moment on, i cant view my sim contacts on the list(i have imported the contacts twice i m not doing it again.)

your problem is very easy to solve:

1) Go to phonebook>> on the top left hand corner (below the notification area) click the icon with 3 heads
2) deselect online contacts
3) Under display contacts click on phone contact>> click " all contacts" > click ok

you are done!

Open the phonebook, go to contacts and press menu. Find the option "Display options" and select the options you want, options include SIM contacts, Google account contacts etc.

1. Go to PHONE>CONTACTS.

2. ON THE TOPMOST LEFT CORNER, CLICK ON THE GROUPS ICON.(the one with a three person symbol)

3. IT SHOWS VIEW FILTER UNCHECK THE SHOW ONLY ONLINE ACCOUNTS AND CHECK THE SHOW CONTACTS W. PH. NUMBER (YES ONLY ONE OF THESE OPTIONS PLS)

4. GO TO CONTACTS ONCE AGAIN. You should now be able to view your contacts(containing phone numbers).
