How do I get ringtones to work?

Postby rome1067 » Sun Jun 19, 2011 1:06 pm

Hi
I'm trying to do ringtones on my X10 from my music library. I've downloaded the app ringtone maker mobile17 but everytime I try to make a ringtone it says:

error creating ringtone, the song format may not be exportable, please try again with another song.

I have transferred the music from itunes so its either from my cds or tracks I've bought from itunes but none of them work.

If I try other apps it doesn't even show my music when it searches tracks, just the music that was on the phone when I got it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

First off, try "Tone Picker". Tone Picker finds stuff on my sd card that other apps don't see at all  . I have sworn by Tone Picker for about 9 months? :D
You can get it here: https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... tonepicker
Secondly: I hate itunes! itunes takes normal MP3's and converts them to another format that MOST phones will not recognize or allow to be used as ringtones  .
I view most things made by "Crapple" as EVIL

I have never tried ringtone maker but I do use Ringdroid. Works perfectly, if you still have trouble, maybe use a file explorer like astro to move the soundfiles into the ringtone or notification folders on the phone.

You can't do that unless rooted but you can move MP3 files to sdcard> media> audio> ringtone.

Thanks tonepicker has done it!! Now, how do I have my songs as ringtones for different people? When I go into tone picker it just has default ringtone.

Edit contacts individually. Scroll down and ringtone option is there.

find sounds, Songs & tones on internet & download to phone or pc
If pc, mount card with usb, copy and paste sound files into a folder you will remember.

Now go to android market and search for tone picker if my old link above in this thread is broken. Install tone picker. run program easy to use, find folder where you put them and go for it.

To give individual contact it's own unique ringtone.
Edit contact, scroll down to ringtone, select tonepicker and again if prompted, find tone, voila.
