Google Contacts Not Syncing?

Hey guys,

I am trying to upgrade to v.2.3.3 but i want to make sure my contacts are all saved.

I entered a few phone numbers last night, and i know my sync with google contacts is one, but when i checked my contact list in gmail today, i noticed they are not synced. why is this?

Was also wondering, if I backup using xrecovery, and install the new 2.3.3, and i find i don't like it for some reason, can i just go back and restore the backup through xrecovery? Assuming I reroot my phone (I assume I have to re-root no?)

Firstly I don't see any reason why your contacts aren't saved in your gmail account, that's how I do mine and I've checked gmail and they are all there for me. Check your settings.
As for android 2.3.3, there is currently not root available but there is pre-rooted version available on XDA by developer Doomlord, you'll need a rooted 2.1 with xRecovery installed and Flashtool on your PC.
Download the recovery image from the link below along with the ftf bundle for Flashtool, then flash the recovery image with xRecovery and then pull battery after xRecovery has complete and run Flashtool to flash the tft bundle.

Talking bout contacts. I use sync too, but i got one name atleast 3 times. Which makes my 200 actual contacts 600. Anyone got an idea? Deleted all contacts many times. Also deleted all the doubles and then it synced again and i got 700 contacts all over again.
