SMS Issue post-2.3.3 update.

Postby thainoodle » Sat Sep 03, 2011 8:39 pm

Hi,

I updated my x10i a coupla weeks ago and have found the update to be very good, making a phone that was awkward, good.

Unfortunately It's developed an SMS problem...

First thing I noticed of the problem is that I was not getting any text's off the girlfriend, I just thought she hadn't sent me any but it turns out she had been. She spoke to her network operator (o2) and I spoke to mine (orange). Neither helped much.

I then noticed that since the update, the phone had added her facebook profile into the phone book, so I had her short name as the old contact then full name as the facebook contact, which was used as the default for SMS convo. I did a bit of a google and found that this was maybe the problem. I've deleted the old contact, but the phone would not let me delete the facebook contact, as in if I clicked her name, thhen pressed the left hand button, I'd get the options to 'Delete Contact' and 'Share Contact' but was unable to select either.

I then did a bit more research and it seemed going through the 'accounts and sync' in the settings menu, and deleting the facebook profile off my phone alltogether.

It's still not working.

I've gone back from liking this phone, to wanting to smash it to bits again.

Any ideas before I go get a new phone?

As for the MMS thing, you should first make sure you have your settings correct. When I flashed WB GB rom (every one from v3 up to the current v4.0.4) I never had a problem with this but some have. So go to settings/sony ericsson and download the settings.

As for the facebook contact info in your contact list, that's due to you syncing your fb contacts (maybe by accident during the initial setup). I see you've deleted your fb account in accounts/settings but as you see that didn't take care of the problem. I think you should backup your apps/data and do a fresh install via SEUS by clicking "repair installation". This time, make sure you don't sync fb!
