rogers Canada to virgin mobile

There has been news of the x10 coming to virgin mobile in Canada. but I have a Rogers version and I'm looking to sell it to my friend who is on virgin. how do you get the phone to work on other networks? do you gave to unlock it? what does unlocking do any ways? thanks. if anyone is looking to buy an x10 please contact me.

are they both using x10a firmware? by unlock what do you mean? i'm not sure if the phone is locked to the carrier.. why don't you test it out first before selling it?
