No "Market" button, need help!

So I bought the X10mini-pro a couple of days ago from Singapore. But it doesn't have the Market button.

Is there any way I can make it appear? Would rooting or something help? Or am I doomed?

go to www.sonyericsson.se then support and download SEUS (sony ericsson update service)
install and follow the directions on the screen in the program, then take out the battery, and put it in,
hold in the left button and hook up the usb cable and when the program says let go,
and then when it ask you, re install software

Thanks zleepy, but that didn't help. It just deleted everything and installed the last available firmware, but apart from that; nothing.

Any other suggestions?

Hi saganomics. Ok, you must have the U20i verison, International, same as me. Apparently, the Market icon will not be on the Xperia X10 Mini Pro U20i only the U20a (NAM) version. No worries, believe me, I thought the exact same thing that you stated in your first post. Ok, you will need to Google search an application opener. Meaning look for AndExplorer 1.6, that's what I was finally able to download onto my phone. I also heard it could be b/c we have Donut and may get the Market icon with Froyo soon. Once you get AndExplorer 1.6 on your Pro, then you can save apk files onto your SD card and open them and install them from there. The SD card is where the apk files and some apps would be stored onto anyway using the Market app. You can also use the website below to find apk files for the Pro. I have many already using this site. I generally use my laptop to connect with my Pro, via USB, and the preloaded Sony Ericsson PC Companion to fiddle around with my apk files and apps. Let me know how it goes for you.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I got the slideme app for my phone, and can get some apps now. It's not the Marketplace, but it's something. Anyone without the Market app should go to slideme.com on their phone and get that app.

Do you think upgrading to Eclair (not Froyo; Froyo is 2.2 and we're only getting 2.1) will bring the Market icon to our phone? I personally won't be holding my breath for it. I'll just wait for the upgrade and then pray for a custom ROM to come out.

I had the same problem on my u20i.

However, after countless hours of googling, I came across this solution:

downloaded http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jx0zo2nwlhu (a vending.apk file, which is android marketplace)
install the apk onto your phone. (i did so via android sdk on my computer)
when i first opened it, i got past the license agreement, and then the app crashed.
when i opened it again, it worked perfectly for me! xD

You need to download Flashtool and then debrand your phone's software to a different region using the correct FTF file. See this post for the FTF files.

Use our guide to help you if you get stuck. It's for the Xperia S but the principal is the same. Good luck!
