O2 not debrand or debrand, that is the question...

Postby jimi777 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:53 am

Hi all

Currently have an 02 X10 and would really like the new firmware updates. i have a couple of questions:

1. If i debrand will it be a case of downloading (from the o2 site) the o2 phone network settings?
2. Does debranding void the warranty?
3. Can someone point me in the direction of the debranding route?

Regards

Jim

Ok, i tried to debrand my x10i but had no luck.
I tried the seus route but the two firmware files (120mb 15mb) are not present in the db folder.
I tried the companion way but my phone has not been debranded and is still on the old R1FA016 firmware.
Any ideas?

I just did mine on friday mate, took a couple of hours of downloading and fiddling to get it to work and now its running the updatated firmware.
However my phone went back to like factory reset, lost my applications and settings...but strangely enough kept my phontos and video...strange.
Anyhow I did via ombinus version found on this site. Good luck,

Are you sure it was successful? You can check your region and brand by going into the Test Menu (from slide lock screen press: menu, back, back, menu, back, menu, menu, back) and going to Service info > Model info.

It sounds like the SEUS/PC Companion method isn't working anymore. You could try debranding it with Omnius:

1. Download and register Omnius (it's free): http://www.omnius-server.com/download
2. Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907 and download the file (i_R1FA16_omn.rar) in Post #1 under "Step 1 for Omnius". This is the Generic UK R1FA016 firmware.
3. Extract the file you downloaded to a place you can find it. There should be two zip files. DON'T unzip them.
4. Start Omnius and enter your username and password.
5. Select X10 and press the Flash tab.
6. Under Application, select the larger zip file you extracted (R7A_R1FA016_FSP_X10i_CUST_UK_GENERIC_1235_7379_S1_SW_LIVE_AC12_0001_S1_PARTITION_WITH_SPARE.zip).
7. Under Customization, select the smaller file (R1FA016_APP_SW_RACHAEL_GENERIC_1227_4612_S1_SW_LIVE_AC12_0001_S1_PARTITION.zip).
8. Connect the phone in Flash mode (power off, hold Back while plugging in the USB cable) and flash.

Thanks for the reply mate.

I got it sorted using TheWeedMan's guide located http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/04/14/debrand-your-xperia-x10-tutorial/#comment-2551 post number 271.

Just had to copy the files over before seus stuck its nose in :)

its amazing how fast the phone runs without the bloatware and some new firmware!
Thanks again
