You can get nimbuzz from market. One problem: on call start it uses external speaker. I have not tried to solve this problem yet, may be we should to write bug report. Just now i use headset - there is no such problem with it.

Skype for Android is only available for 2.1... and unfortunately SE X10 Mini Pro is STILL 1.6 (1.6!!! c'mon SE, what are you waiting for???)
Next problem is its QVGA screen, i.e.: HTC Wildfire does not support Skype due to its screen resolution...

Apparently SKYPE issue not working on mini pro or any other phones ,is simply because your network provider has BLOCKED THEM!!?!

I went to tmobile uk and was told they did blocked skype, voip, nimbuzz and all that.its business, in Uk only 3G network is allowing its customers to use skype, voip, nimbuzz etc calling....

Hope this answers your questions,be rest assured there is nothing wrong at all with your phone sound and all tht, the service u r just trying is blocked from the root ...

Hi, I'm new on here, just came across a lotttt of users having problems with the X10 regarding Skype while I was trying to help somebody get an X10 running with Skype.

I don't know if any of this is of use yet, but here's what I found out so far:

(first, a background bit cos there seems a lot of confusion with these phone things. To start with, the actual model of mobile has little to do with things, the whole thing is that you are using an operating system that allows you control. If using the android system (or symbian, or java etc.) you are limited firstly by the electronic design of the phone (e.g. 3G or not, java-capable, GPS-capable, touch-screen, 800x480 resolution, camera etc.), and as long as the electronics are built-in, then the next step is if your software is capable of doing what you need. If the software is ok, then you may still need the right settings putting in)

    Onto this Skype thing now . . . .

    1) Yes the X10 Pro does work with Skype, not the Jar version, it has to be the Android APK version.
    2) Don't bother with the 'lite' version, why this was even written makes little sense when a full Android version is available
    3) The Android 2.1 (and above) don't seem to be able to run java (JAR) files, which is an AmAzInG mistake by the designers  The older Androids 1.5 and 1.6 will happily run those files. I'll explain why i've mentioned that JAR detail in a bit . . .
    4) The X10 (the non-keypad version) can use either the APK or JAR files :) I've installed both on that type of mobile, and i've also ran both types on a G1 (Android 1.5 standard)
    5) if the phone networks have all blocked Skype on UK standard networks, then i must have a magic O2 SIM card, because mine works. I have ran version 1.2.0.11 of JAR Skype on several mobiles now, an N-Gage, a P990i, a G1, even a SAMSUNG B3650 (and the other models of that range).

Mine has been tested in the UK, and the phones have all been unlocked models (not that it makes any difference). It appears that when you sign in, on all phones it will try to use WiFi automatically to connect, and if that fails (maybe the phone doesn't have WiFi, or no available networks nearby) then the phone automatically connects using GPRS (also known as making a Data call). Once connected, the software just does exactly what it should.

When connected on Wifi, it can use messages, files, voice calls, and even make video calls (i used the P990i for that feature). It all does the same on GPRS but a voice call makes an actual phone call instead through a special mobile number. You stay connected to Skype just the same (last tested on the Samsung B3650 Corby), but you are in an actual phone call as far as the phone is concerned. How this call is paid for I don't know yet, as I have a rolling contract so I can only see the call cost at the end of the month (if it did even charge me). I have no Skype calling credit, so I know it isn't taken from that.

I've ran this Skype program before (about 12 months ago), and never seen any unusual call charge appear, so despite it seeming obvious that somebody must be paying for it all somewhere, that's not actually guaranteed :) Sometimes the obvious slips through the net ;) (consider the idea of using the old O2 915000 free Internet number a few years ago - according to the O2 helpline that was never possible to use that for anything more than basic WAP access, yet I had about 30 people all connecting mobiles to laptops and towers for free unlimited Internet (till broadband became cheap enough for everybody) :)

Another funny point, showing how strange and versatile all this is, is that on the JAR Skype utility mentioned above, you can sign in on a mobile, and sign in on the same Skype account on a laptop, and both accounts will automatically keep up with each other (5-10 second delay in messages being shown on the other device).

Earlier today, I had a 4-way conversation going, between an S2 mobile, an X10 Mini Pro, a SAMSUNG B3650, and my home tower PC LoL. Now if that ain't pushing the technology beyond the designers original specifications, i dunno what is :-D

I'll send this now, and drop back in again when i know the actual APK file version that has been used at the other end on the X10 Mini Pro - I don't have that phone with me, it's somebody elses.

There is hope out there :) but I'm still not sure why so many are having problems getting the X10's to work with this. Maybe it's just other countries from the UK having a problem ? I'm not sure yet.
