Prep for 2.1 update

Just been reading through this mornings antics with the faker....

But, I did notice that someone had posted about a kernel version update which is to prep the phone for 2.1.
Do I need to update my phone before the 2.1 update?

Haven't updated for a while...

My phone OTA and SEUS say my phone is running the latest software.

I read somewhere ppl were getting an update?

Phone just told me I had an update available but had to be connected to pc to do it.

Just updated using PC companion and all phone status info is exactly as I have put above...

I was also looking for update in PC Companion, but with no joy. For some reason it wont update through there.

it has the link to the Sony Ericsson website to download the SEUS. I managed to update from this with no problems

Downloaded SEUS last night after the 'update' which still left me on build ...020.

SEUS wont update, tells me I have the latest software available!
LIES LIES LIES.... But, I have no trouble with my phone so I am not really too bothered, just dont want to be missing out on anything lol

I have not debranded.
I am on Orange UK - Not sure what they put on it but there is nothing specific to Orange apart from a couple of apps that I have found and downloaded myself.

Yes it may not be debranded or have much branding within the phone, I asked because obviously your on R2BA020 and I debranded mine and it's on R2BA026. As your with Orange maybe that's the last update they released, firmware updates are released by SE then branded and re-released by your provider.
When I got my phone it was on R1FA016, I updated it before de-branding and it was R2BA024 but when I de-branded and updated it became R2BA020.
