I found one something funny is that, when I try to create a contact, then I go to delete, I can see all my contacts appear (the screen to delete) and they are listed as Google contact instead of phone contact. Some are joined contact. I don't know what crap this is, which is now messing up my contacts.

Anyone out there facing this problem? :?:

joined contacts is the work of the social phonebook. this is why i don't use so many contact managers. i just use google's. worked wonders for me. i have NO issues whatsoever with contact management. very neat, very clean, very efficient, and i won't lose my contacts to a phone crash or whatever :)

you might wanna start hopping onto google sync

Thanks tookie for the advice. Actually I did that when I first got my phone (way back in april) and lost all my contacts (gmail & phone) because I didn't know that it syncs two way !! But luckily I had backup for both of them. From that time onwards, I decided not to sync and mess up.

Now I'm really trying to figure out how do I go back to Singapore firmware (be it v1.6 or v2.1).

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Actually Can !!

I just repeated the debranding steps and I was back to 1.6. But I was looking for my original firmware, which I couldn't get it.

But I managed to walk to service centre and get updated to Singapore Android v2.1 without any issues !! But I don't know whether that contact issue will start pop up again !! But thanks anyway u guys :)

I edited the conf file to convince SEUS I was on nordic firmware and upgraded to nordic 2.1. So far no problems. My contacts backed up and restored with no issues (I don't synch to Google or Facebook or anything else, not sure if that was an issue for anyone). Rooted it OK following method listed on the main page. So far no major problems and a few good plusses. Seems a little slower and laggy still but not excessively and not an issue for me. Run live wallpaper ok. Battery life much much better on standby. Music playback via bluetooth is louder. HD video does look pretty cool. Dialler is improved (I still use MeContacts with it though). Get a little H for HSDPA as well as 3G now when on the network and that does seem much quicker. (although I'm usually on wireless when I'm consuming any volume of data so that's more of a nice to have for me). Wireless obviously from that comments is working fine for me too.

Will probably do the process over again with the UK Orange firmware once that's updated ok on the wife's X10.

like what you said, you can. either you edit the /system/build.prop file (not sure if this method works), someone can try and let us know.
or you can use flash tools, load up a singapore 1.6 firmware, and flash it. this method definitely works. i've tried it.

zleepy, have you tried downgrading? if you haven't tried, and you said no, at least provide a credible source. but now i'm telling you, you can. :)

No, i'm running a nordic version, and dont need to do it they way's you do cause you cant wait :)

i was just quoteing SE, and that was, when you have upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1 you can't go back..
i did't know that he had rooted and changed his firmware/region to get 2.1 faster :)

So that's why i said like i did, i can't go back to 1.6 even if i wanted to (in a normal non flashing/rooting way) :)

I can confirm editing the build.prop file worked fine with my x10i and as of yet I see no issues with the phone (didn't have any issues with Android Market or lag at all) Would definatley recommend backing up the phone after rooting and before updating. Back up pro is what I used after root as it then backs up all the apks and settings. Angry Birds now works :)

ok so it's confirmed that replacing build.prop or editing the 3 lines that contain the fingerprint numbers will change the country code?

what i mean is, lets say you're on nordics now, you wanna switch to UK. you just change the 3 strings of numbers from the one that belongs to the nordics to UK, connect to SEUS, and you will be able to "repair" with a UK rom (that is to reflash the nordics with the UK rom) correct?
