SE website has a page about the 2.1 update

Postby Hawkez » Thu Nov 04, 2010 8:02 am

This Sony Ericsson page says "How do I update my phone to Android 2.1 software."

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support ... c=pk&lc=en

This page is the SE page entitled "What's new with Android 2.1."

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support ... c=pk&lc=en

Their site also talks about the new x10 HD (we all have heard of this by now. Same phone 2.1 installed already.)

The "how to" page recommends to use PC Companion.

Ok, Can anyone tell me what version this would be? I am guessing it is the generic one, or does it send you the proper one for your country and carrier etc (I know mine would show no update, I am on Optus in AUS and don't expect anything soon.) I am guessing a debranded phone would find an update and download it?

by version, do you mean the PC Companion version? i assume yes.
please note that the pc companion version is not reflective of the firmware version. it will read your fingerprint number, and send it back to SE's servers to determine if the firmware for your country and brand is released yet. if it is, it will send you a copy, and flash it. if not, you either wait it out, or rebrand.

so you are half correct to say a debranded phone will get an update. if i'm not mistaken, global 2.1 is not out yet. only for selected regions. so you have to rebrand to those regions that already have 2.1, will you then be able to flash.

I was asking if it was the generic version because all of the SE sites have these pages. They refer to the 2.1 update as if it is out already. The version I was referring to was what Android 2.1 version. U.K. Generic etc.

the site serves all countries. the only things that change are country specific content, and language. info on fones are generic, all earthlings can see them. they're referring to 2.1 as a whole, regardless of any country restriction.

I get it. Seems strange that Nordic is out and the Generic version isn't. BTW: Can you lock a thread you have created? I have search the board and can't seem to find a way to do this.
