2.1 UPDATE IN CANADA

A couple of things...

1. You have to update to 2.1 via the Sony PC Companion software correct? So it recognizes what country/carrier you're with and if the 2.1 package for that region has been prepared it will allow you to update?

2. is it just me or was there mention before of the 2.1 update for the Xperia on Rogers slated for Q1 2011? becuase it was going to take time for them to "Rogersify" it...

Yes you will have to update through the PC software, i have heard that you will get some sort of message on your phone stating that there is a firmware update available. And i think that was said in the past but just this week rogers had said that the update will be very soon but that they could not give a date.

Anyone else pissed this is taking so long. Actual information from Rogers or Sony would be better than the vague "coming soon" that we are getting. Everything is "coming soon". I mean Christmas is "coming soon" and by the way so is 2011.

We're hinging this week on a tipster though... but in my mind it shouldn't take long for Rogers, all they have to do is add the rogers wallpaper on startup/cosmetic changes right? Because all of the Rogers apps (track ID,etc.) would be maintaned from the 1.6 and just carryover during the update wouldn't you think? Mostly I'm anxious for a 20-25% improvement in battery life...

Hey guys, it seems Rogers Agents are train today to tell customer to contact SECA. I long in today and try to get some answers but the Rep didnt wanted to help me out.



The Rep didnt know that there was a link on Rogers.com Xperia support there is a 2.1link, that tells me that they been train to tell customer to direct their calls about Xperia update to SECA/SEUS, instead of them.

see this is what i dont get,
I did a chat session with rogers this morning, and they said "the sony link is down and they are trying to fix it" just keep checking it should be activated sometime shortly......so then i did the same chat session with SONY ERICSSON canada, and they told me that they weren't even aware the 2.1 update was made available in canada, and couldnt tell me when it will be coming. WTF!!!

sooo it seems we are getting conflicting info...well at least i did anyways..

Hey guys ^_^ update started today. when I power on my laptop, PC Companion automatically updated, and when I connected my Xperia x10, it shows "A software update is available" woo hoo!!! but i think SECA is constantly being stuff with ppl downloading the new update.

In Vancity Been waiting for this friggin update. . . .connected X10 to PC. PC Companion says my phone is up to date.

Additionally, Speaking to a Rogers rep yesterday, they are now saying end of November for 2.1 update!!!???

Say it isn't so, Rogers, SE!!! PLEASE!!!
