Xperia X10 Android 2.1 Root confirmed

Xperia X10 Android 2.1 Root confirmedOne of the sticking points that some people may have had in updating their Xperia X10 or X10 mini to Android 2.1 was the loss of root. Fear not though, as a number of people over at xda-developers have confirmed that they have achieved Root using the SuperOneClick tool.

There does seem to be a bug that causes the program to continuously loop, if that does happen you should simply toggle between the USB debugging mode whilst the program is running. This means you can now get access to Titanium, Barnacle as well as other very useful root apps. Click here for more information.

  8. now if they can get multi touch to work, it would be sweet. I was really hoping that mt was coming with the update, especially seeing those videos on you tube showing it off.

  14. And here I was thinking I would be content to wait for Docomo to release the update, but with root confirmed, and Barnacle still available after the update……. flashing to Nordic seems more and more tempting an option.

    do you think its a good idea not to wait for docomo to update as we use I-mode and SP mail.
    would it work with with Nordic? plus hiragana text?

    The JP 2.1 release is scheduled for Nov 10th. Not far out.

    I-mode & SP-Mode *should* work on the nordic, highly doubtful they coded extra-extensions into the jp-fw to make sp-mode work.

    Nordic does include JP language files, etc, after all.

  31. Easy way of getting update early. Root your 1.6 phone first, then follow these steps!!

    Posting this from Xda Developers.
    The fastest easiest way to debrand your X10 to Nordic firmware fo rthe Eclair update due out today.

    2. Download Root Explorer.apk (market)
    3. Open Root Explorer and navigate to /SYSTEM
    4. Push on white button in the right top corner of Root Explorer (This wil change R/O in R/W).
    5. Long Press on the file Default.prop and choose “Open in Text Editor”
    6. Change in the folowing lines the XXXX-XXXX (scroll for firm codes):

    ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
    ro.product.name=x10_XXXX-XXXX

    7. Press “Menu” and choose save and exit
    8. Reboot your Phone
    9. Open PC Companion
    10. Choose Support Zone
    11. Choose Repair (Your phone will be reset and will update with the newest firmware)
    12. When done check your settings in de lock screen (menu-back-back-menu-back-menu-menu-back)
    You will need to have the phone rooted with the 1-click root.You need a version of root explorer higher than 2.12.2 as this includes the “text editor” mentioned above.

    Change the 2 lines in the above “default.prop” to 1234-8465,reboot and then run the Sony update service.
    You`ll end up with a debranded Nordic software version with the latest firmware.

  33. No idea man, havn’t got a chance to try it myself yet! Just found info online. My only problem with the above method is I have to pay €2 or something to download teh root explorer app. I’d rather not pay that, obviously!

    Need some help please. i tried to root via superoneclickroot (v1) and it got stuck on ” running rageagainstthecage…”. I tried to replace the adb files, and it didn’t work, i also tried to tick/untick the usb debugging mode, and it didn’t work. What should i do?:)
    I tried with Universal Androot as well, and it didn’t work, giving me an “Failed No Fu Goo” error.

    It’s so difficult. The techie in me wants to flash it, just to “see.” I’m debating with myself and trying to show some restraint. Part of me feels like we’ve waited for so long that what’s a few more days? In those few days, we can just sit back and watch what happens, and we know the update is coming. To be honest, it’s more the thrill of the “new” that is getting me, as my phone stands now with 1.6, ADW launcher (5 screens), Barnacle, and GPS navigation – the phone really does what I need.

    I know man, I think its just best to wait,
    have you rooted the Japanese firmware? if so how and what will you need to do to upgrade once its released, like you say I’m using the adw launcher and its working fine, did you notice the battery significantly improved since using I mode and sp?
    the app I want most is barnacle, how’s that going for you?

  40. I used Superuser to root my device before the last update from DoCoMo, and had no problems. Their update relocked my phone, but I just ran SU again, and it re-rooted it. I then re-installed Barnacle with no problems.

    Well, the thing with Barnacle is that it drains the battery like you wouldn’t believe. So I charge my phone whenever I use it with my laptop. I probably use Barnacle five or six days a week, 20 to 30 minutes at a time; been using it for at least three months now. Once or twice, I shared the connection between my laptop and a friends for an hour. Thank goodness for packet hodai. I did a speed test, and I could get anywhere from 380kbps up to 500kbps using the wireless tether. It’s pretty awesome. You should try it.

  45. Kaspersky won’t let me open the root tools in that link, it says it contains trojan viruses.

  46. Flashed my X10i which was already rooted, on 2.1 now and loving it (used the method from XDA Developers that Phil posted above, worked perfectly).

  51. @meme: Hi, are you sure these information s accurate?? Because what I saw on the internet and heard are quite somewhat different to your version! Your version of update is AMAZING! I would really love to have this kind of update but even the official SE support website only lists a few updates.

  53. Guys why does my Xperia not have the lines which PHIL is talking about…My default.prop only has

    ro.semc.version.sw=1227-4612 and nothing about custom and nothing about ro product name.. any help. am in South Africa

  55. @meme Piss off with your bullshit info. 10 homescreens!!!! Why would you want people to believe this crap when its not true. My favorite is the 8 mp upgrade to 10mp. Imagine you could just upgrade mp’s with software. I am a photographer and if this was possible we would never need new cameras. You are an idiot. Keep the bullshit in your mouth where it belongs.

    please help me,
    I have tried to root my xperia x10 (updated os,no branding-bought at SE) with this app…I got the well known error “no fu goo” etc.
    Since then I cannot connect to the internet via cellular network (haven´t tried wi-fi yet).

    Finally rooted it thanks to the “How to…” on youtube, but still cant connect…and the purpose was to enable the droidwall (firewall app-doesnt work for me though,due to another error)
    Is there anything I can do to repair it? hope it doesnt have to stay this way
