New firmware update (2.1.A.0.390) to bring dual-touch support?

Pinch ZoomA new firmware update was yesterday certified by the PTCRB. Firmware version 2.1.A.0.390 hasn’t hit handsets yet, but a quick look at the open source code released by the SE Developer site highlights that this firmware may be bringing us the multitouch fix for the Xperia X10 family. We’ll bring you more news as we have it.

  1. why is everyone going on about multi touch, I mean what are the real benefits besides the pinch to zoom thing and support for multi touch gaming?

  2. X10 the problem is that I’m worried that this firmware will also prevent us from rooting our phone, the same way the previous firmware did. I don’t want to get an update that prevents me from rooting my phone.

So if the phone will add MT and prevent me from rooting then I’ll guess I’ll pass.

  3. Multi touch means nothing if they don’t resolve the performance issues… Performance we were supposed to have with android 2.2

  4. It all depends what you do with your phone. Personally, I can live easily without MT, but froyo would have been most welcome even though I resigned myself a long time ago to that not coming officially to the x10.

  5. Is this update for the mini, mini pro and the x8 aswell. Will x8 get multi touch?

  6. @Jimmy Kindeborg
I believe MT will only be added to the X10.

I think it’s a bad decision made by SE not upgrading the Xperia-family to 2.2/2.3, sad story. Still I hope they know what they’re doing, maybe they’ve tried implementing Flash in this next update, who knows? You never know when SE hits you, just saying.

  7. i clicked the link and gave me a download site… should i download?? what is this download?? is this the new firmware?? what is this??

if this is the new firmware ,how should i install this? wouldn’t Official updates be on the SEUS??

  8. there is no zip so want work in xrecovery
    when is gonna be released

This quite small 143 MB strange so interesting
    last update was ~160 Mb

  9. I’ll wait for the devs at XDA to disassemble this new firmware, extract the MT updates, and implement it in their own 2.2 ROM.

    F. U. Sony Ericsson.

  10. they have got to make that release STABLE with 32gb cards.

the arc looks the part, but its specs are old. sony ericsson are like SEAT etc in they just give old parts a new shiney skin

AND THAT IS STUPID. SONY IS A SERIOUS BRAND AND THEY ARE PISSING IT UP THE WALL

  11. Evryone needs dual touch. Why? So you can actually fucking type without the piece of shit keyboard failing to recognize an input if u accidently hit two letters at the same time.

  12. FYI

2.2/2.3/3.0 > Multitouch and all your stupid accessories you’re trying to launch.

    Eat your Multitouch Sony Ericsson!

  13. Funny how a lot of people are shitting on MT now that SE said there will be no 2.2. A while back 70% of the people were calling SE fags on why they did not put it in the first place.
moral of the story: SE are really good on designing their phone, but when it comes to the software side, the never fail to disappoint. And God…they have that shitty attitude!! SE 2.1 better than 2.2 my ass

  14. Ok, that dontmake sense, they jus released. Weekms ago some. Videos on youtube aying they were updating……but all they mentioned qas gingerbread…..so do you think what they are saying is they are skipoing froyo….n the nxt update will be gingerbread…….jys sayin

  15. so this firmware update is to unlock the MT for x10? hope to hear from you guys~ have anyone updated it? it is provide MT to x10? thx!!!!

  16. new s/w with multitouch but no froyo update is like im cum in cut tari face but cant get in to her ass. SE crap bullshit said that 2.1 will bring better update than 2.2? OMG how ‘Einstein Failed’ they are. SE must stop their big mouth. How come 2.1 is better than 2.2 even these update contain a good fixed (still a big mark quetion!) ??

Cant say any words. Since SE is a “big (Crap) companies. Im enough and dont want to see SE products with anything SE upcoming release. They cant service a customer satifaction. Its not an android device that i recommended for you. very bad attitude, SONY ERICSSON is FAIL !!!

  17. @Ariel PeterPan, the only fail I see here is… you. Nothing you said even made sense. Are you a retard? Please throw your phone in the bin and stop crying over your own mistakes.

  18. Flag ship my a$$!!

I have to agree when x10 cam out i was really excited to buy it for the specs. Ofc the downside was the 1.6 OS but heck i thought that SE will fix the problem quickly. Cudnt have been more wrong. This F***ING phone could have brought SE billions of $$$$ instead it marked their frekin end on the cellphone market. I’ve been a loyal SE customer ever since i was 15 -> my first phone the t68 m i still have it! great phone but the X10 great disappointment!
Never thought i’d say this in my life but i’m done with SE phones so SE can fukin kiss my ass!!!

  19. Another update.. I haven’t even received the previous one (2.0.2.A.0.24) yet..
    (Vodafone, NL)

  20. No flash? BFD MT! Can’t view most sites I visit without flash. Now they announce End Of Life for phone I just got four months ago; I’m choked and S.E.is gonna hear about it! Jerks!

  21. Does anyone have any idea how long we have to wait, I am itching to get this on my phone and test it out! How long have previous updates taken to go from testing to release?

  22. I check every minute to see when they will release MT, my guess, based on pass releases from XDA, its gonna take another week or two. This is ofcourse a big assumption, it can actually be release any moment, most assume it will come with the new firmware release and the firmware is basically done just not implemented to the Xperia yet…i guess

  23. This new “software update” is already available for my Xperia X10 but I have not done it yet. I have rooted my Xperia X10 a couple of months ago to be able to get the Market app into my X10 as X10 models available in the Middile East is without the Market app. My question is: Does this new “software update” will PREVENT me (or us) to root again my X10 as I am anticipating to root again to get the 2.2 Froyo (once available) into my X10? Also, is this new “software update” includes the much-awaited “Multi-Touch”? Thank you for your reliable response to my queries.

  24. Hi !

I’ve a question, sorry, my english is very bad because i’m french !

How to install the “software update” in the link of “Yaff” ?

Is legaly ? i’m lost the Warranty ?

Tks in advance for yours reply !

  25. just installed update on x10 mini, not really sure what it does. tried with piano keyboard software but i couldn’t really make 2 notes sound simultaneously. however, at least there’s an update. given the ongoing sentiment about not having anymore android upgrades for this model i think it’s a timely one. bought x10 mini coz i like the design and the thing that it has most features that other larger phones have, plus a decent camera that puts my husband’s iphone 3gs to shame. speakers very decent for the size too. if i’d needed a really powerful phone with flash and multi-touch and guaranteed upgrades i’d have gone for htc right from the beginning, sorry to say. not happy about sms not being able to come in when there is less than 20mb of phone memory left, hope for app2sd to solve the problem.

  26. I just firmware updated an Xperia X10 mini. But what did the latest update do for

    the x10mini if not MT?

  27. a think multi-touch will never work, coz the hardware doesn’t support it…so never hope more guys
