GingerBread Update

Postby BobbleX10 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 9:58 pm

Does anyone know if any of the UK networks confirmed whether or not they will be releasing the gingerbread update once SE have put it out to the generic kits?

Haven't heard anything about UK carriers. But I know that Swedish 3, Swedish Telenor and Swedish Telia will be bringing their carrier branded phones to Gingerbread update. So should be highly likely that UK carriers will do the same.

Personally I doubt most will, not to say none of them will but considering some haven't even released the dual-touch update and had decided not too before SE released the news of android 2.3 coming to the X10i, can't see it happening IMHO.
Just root your X10 and flash a generic firmware, then your good to go with the official Gingerbread update when it's released.

Im on the 2.1 generic thats on the flashtool thread over at xda. Only manged to do it recently now the computer has agreed the flashtool isn't going to destroy it lol. Norton usually he a spaz attack, turned Norton off and the laptop still wouldn't have it. But randomly downloaded it without incident last week. Couldn't believe how easy and simple it is to use! Cant wait for GB now... Fallen in love with my phone all over again!

What version of Norton are you using?
I have Norton 360 and ounce never had any dl problems, not with flashtool nor any ROM's?

Anyway now you have genetic firmware you should be able to get GB when SE finally release it for us!

I´ve read on the official SE Spain website, that only carrier free X10´s will get the update. I guess i won´t get it then. does anyone know, if I unlock my phone by Imei, could i get the update, or it won´t work?

Yes, Gingerbread will only be available to generic kits so just de-brand your phone, use flashtool to install a generic firmware.

Exactly :) I don't want to have to do everything too many more times. There is a large number of apps and settings and stuff to retrain and when I need to, I'm going to de-brand and update all in one weekend. Getting everything back to how I like it takes quite a while. My X10 has become unstable just in the last few days since I installed juice defender beta and updated a couple other apps. I'm seriously jonesing for new hardware  with huge internal memory :o and bells and whistles galore? LED Indicator means way more to me than facetime camera... Dual core would be nice. HDMI is everywhere else these days... OMG is my X10 already a Dinosaur? :|

I called my provider the other say to double check when I can upgrade, online it says Feb 2012 but they've told me October 2011 so unless anything better comes along it's an SGS2 for me in October!

Yipee!!

Nexus S :|
Samsung Galaxy S Captivate :|
Acer Liquid MT :(
Nokia N8 :(
LG Phoenix :|
I still kind of want dual core... :?

Re: GingerBread Update DELAYED!

Postby =NoXiouS= » Mon Jun 20, 2011 11:59 pm

S.E. Just confirmed the Android GB 2.3.3 update for X10 is now delayed until August. If they actually cough it up in August, that's only Mid Q3 & not too serious of a delay. Come on S.E., unchain my X10 from the 2.1 Anchor! :x

I remember posting that, just not where....
Must have been on the blog.
Maybe if I get ripped enough this weekend, I might write out all the lyrics to my little parody song. There will need to be done apple and or iphone references....
