Camera performance

Postby Joz2010 » Fri Apr 23, 2010 10:16 am

My previous phone was the k800, which gave me splendid pictures, but limited connectivity.
I bought the X10 because I wanted to combine a smartphone with an excellent camera.
However, the results after one week of testing are very poor....
I'm not able to make one decent picture. They all have blurs in them.

Please find attached a (part of a) picture taken with multiple focus in broad sunshine.
There is no good contrast. Lines are not well defined and there are blurry spots.
Is this as good as it gets or should I go for a replacement phone?

If I compare them with pics that I find on gsmarena and other, then mine are definitely a lot worse.

Returned the phone today and got a new one.
Problem looks solved. I'll keep on testing in in the upcoming days but the first pics look far better.

That is pretty poor, mine come out much sharper (see here). Hopefully, your new handset fares much better.

You're very brave holding your brand new shiny £450 X10 so close to water like that. I've already developed a complex about dropping it! :D Great quality imagery though (I've yet to check mine out).

Hi,

Wondering joz2010 if you can post some pictures from your newer camera?
Just so I can compare with the quality I'm getting from mine. What camera options are you using when taking pictures?
Most of mine on turn-out grainy and I'm trying to figure out the way to get the best quality.

I was expecting better performance from the Xperia 10 camera, after viewing the link X10 posted.
Those pictures are very sharp and clear.

Kind regards.

I've noticed it's really easy to get fingerprints on the X10 camera lens by mistake, since it lacks a lens cover. Make sure you wipe the lens regularly and I think you'll find the picture quality improve significantly.

They look pretty good to me... but it's so easy to get camera shake because it's such a slim phone, which causes blurry pics.
The Image Stabiliser feature when turned on seems to help a lot.
