Following a raft of new handset launches this morning, Sony Ericsson has confirmed that the family of Xperia X10 handsets (including the X10 mini and X10 mini pro) will receive the Android 2.1 update in Q3 2010. This is good news as the last official word from the company suggested a Q4 timeframe, earlier the […]

Early Android 2.1 build spotted on the Xperia X10?
Some images have leaked that appear to show what is a beta release of Sony Ericsson’s Android 2.1 update for the Xperia X10. If the images aren’t fake it suggests that SE is indeed hard at work getting the Éclair update ready (let’s hope sooner rather than later). The screens show stock Android being used […]

Petition started for Froyo update on Xperia X10
Google announced Android 2.2 (Froyo) last week with some significant improvements over 2.1. I can’t be the only X10 owner feeling a tinge of jealousy knowing that we will only get the Android 2.1 update at the end of the year, by which time the next major version of Android (Gingerbread) would have been released. […]

Android 2.2 Froyo to feature Tethering, Wi-Fi Hotspot function
Xperia X10 owners may have to wait until the end of the year to get Android 2.1 (Éclair) on their handsets, but by then I imagine a lot of us will be envious about new features getting baked into Android 2.2 (Froyo). Rumours already include Flash integration, app memory card support as well as performance […]

Official Twitter app arrives… for Android 2.1
Everyone seems to have their own personal preferences when it comes to choosing an Android Twitter client. Twidroid and Seesmic are my current faves, but Twitter has now launched its own official app in the Android Market to shake things up. However, Xperia X10 owners shouldn’t get too excited, the app is currently only available […]

Sony Ericsson will continue to support the Xperia X10 Android smartphone throughout the lifespan of the handset. Despite some of the recent criticisms regarding Android 1.6, it says that a big update will land in H2 2010 (most likely a new version of Android) but it won’t stop there and will continue to develop for […]

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be seeing an Android update in September according to a SE rep speaking at a press event for the phone. Next major Android version codenamed Froyo
As many of you will know, each of Android’s major new releases have been codenamed after delicious bakery goods, as well as running in alphabetical order. So far we’ve had Cupcake (v1.5), Donut (v1.6) and Eclair (v2.0) and apparently the next iteration will be called Froyo i.e. frozen yoghurt. Engadget got the scoop via a […]

More impressions of the Xperia X10
Michell Bak from se-blog attended a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 press event and posted his impressions. There were a few interesting facts that were worth pointing out. For one I didn’t realize that you can choose to set the original Android as your default home screen or you can use Sony Ericsson’s Timescape application. The […]
